UM folds ... accepts punishment

I'd definitely rather be a Ohio State fan than like a LSU fan.

Yea LSU has 1 more title than us in the BCS/CFP era, but they have so much more mediocrity in-between those titles.
I’d have to take LSU, you’re gonna have some shit seasons, but also every coach they’ve had this century has won a natty. I’d definitely rather be OSU than Florida or Auburn, but 3 natties, screwed out of a 4th where IMO 13-1 with a road win against Bama>12-1 with a neutral site win against LSU is pretty damn good.

TOSU has not lost to a non-cheatin MI team since 2011 and has also never ran from the game. Sorry little brother go celebrate all those wins vs. HS teams.
So UM has never lost to Ohio state then?

Well to be fair, most fanbases with an expectation of winning would.
You're not wrong. For Texas and Florida fans to enjoy such immense highs in the 2000s only to crash to the depths they did right after, I feel bad for them.

I don’t feel bad for em. If Kirby takes an NFL gig and the next coach is a disaster, I don’t expect any sympathy

And half of those Florida fans from back then are either Bama or UGA fans now

That neutral site win vs LSU was pretty lopsided though. If anything, I'd call the regular season win over Bama extremely flukey. Bama won every other game that year by at least 16 and every single LSU drive in that NCG ended in either a punt or TO. Hell they only had one drive that gained even 20 or more yards. That was one of Saban's better teams IMO.

Yeah I take that back about Florida, Urban won them 2 titles and so did Billy Donovan at the same time. Those motherfuckers can go another century or so without one.

LSU had wins against Bama, Oregon, Arkansas, West Virginia and UGA

LSU definitely had the better resume and the extra data point.

Bama was the better team, but they also had no business being in that game IMO

Oh no doubt, LSU was also a really good team that year. I also agree, Oklahoma State should've been there. I get their loss was ugly but I'm thinking that was like the day after that awful place crash that killed the women's basketball coaches. That said, I'm not 100% sure LSU would've beaten that Oklahoma State team either. That was a damn good team in their own right.

The late 80s-early 90s were pretty mediocre. With a 4-6-1 season in 1988 (coopers first year) being the rock bottom

and then 1999,2000.2001 were pretty low points as well. The 6-6 season in 1999 was probably the lowest of the low that i've personally consciously witnessed. I don't really count 2011 considering the circumstances.

We havent really had 2 terrible terrible seasons in a row since the 1920s though. Most teams probably can't say that.

The Bellasari years lol

They didn't have recruiting rankings back then but it's incredible to think OSU fell off like it did after having a very good team in 98

They had about 6 years of good to great qb play (for college) and then the best they could do was drunk Steve

and the receiving talent fell off as well

went from Boston Glenn Galloway to Ken Yon Rambo and Reggie Germany

it's like Cooper knew he was done and said fuck it.

I’m not gonna guarantee they would have won, but I would have liked LSU’s chances against Okie Lite more than a rematch with Bama. They had had one of the best resumes of a 13-0 team ever

Unless you're like Miami and Nebraska, then are just stuck in the low cycle.

Recruiting was still pretty good, problem is QB play was soooooooo bad that it didn't matter, also yea the drop off in WR ability as well. Those 2 positions really killed us in that stretch.

I would've probably picked them also. And yeah that resume was stupendous, especially in the final rankings. You hardly ever can find an example of a team with 3 wins over top 5 teams pre-CFP era.
