Seems like firing coaches well before the season is over is now the new thing. Teams aren't waiting until after the last game like they used to, coaches are dropping like flies mid-season. We have multiple weeks left of the regular season and multiple teams have already let go of their head coaches
USC
LSU
Washington
TCU
Wash St
VT
Recruiting and development became that of a dumpster fire. Also qb play after Jerod Evans (2016) went to shit and he was supposed to be a "qb whisperer" of a coach. Laughable at best. So, what went wrong at VT ??
Fuente seemed to be the perfect hire at the time, and was doing good things at Memphis.

See, this is how bad Duke Football has become. Beat Duke by 31 and still get fired.
At least Duke Football didn't lose to Kansas...

From what I am reading:Who do you think VT's top targets will be?
Here is the thing on Fickle. He needs to make a move this year because going to a new league and losing Ridder (who has been a massive piece of his success) is going to make the Cincy job so much harder. You aren’t going to get him over USC or LSU but who knows the direction they are going. VT is perfect part of the country for Fickle and it’s a P5 job with a ton of upside. VT is not a top 10 job buts it’s top 25 and has more stability than a lot of the top 10s.From what I am reading:
Attainable:
- Napier
- Clawson
- Chadwell
- Freeze
Nice to have but not attainable IMO:
- Fickle
- Stoops
Not ready / jury is still out:
- Shane Beamer
On Cincy the one good thing that can help is our AD came from that program. My personal pick out of all of those coaches would be Fickle. I think he could make an instant impact at VT.Here is the thing on Fickle. Stoops is probably close to peaking at KY because how far can they really take the program with Tenn getting better? The ACC is ripe for someone to step up and be a consistent power.
Avoid Freeze like the plague.
Beamer would be bad for both parties IMO.
