wedding bells Wednesday

A few years ago, I was hourly and went to cali for a conference. Conf was reg hours and after they had dinner/networking events. Company paid me for 8 hours those days

My current beer selection is weird.

Six modelos, three busch lights and a Pliny The Elder.
I haven't had a Pliny in a while.

I still have a stash of bourbon county beers going back to 2014...I am slowly going through them.

I've never tried a Pliny. A friend gave it to me. I'm in no way a beer snob. I didn't even know what a Pliny was other than it supposed to be a big deal.

I'm all over the map on what beers I'll drink, but a lot has to do with what I'm eating or doing.

I used to buy library wines that I'd hold for 10-20 years before drinking, but now those funds go to kids' braces, bar mitzvahs, summer camps and travel baseball.

I used to stash beers in the basement and let them age.

I have had friends in CA mail me bottles of Pliny and they are very good beers. Enjoy yours.

Speaking of jobs. . .

If you have a sales position and are paid hourly, do you think you should be paid for attending networking events?
There are still sales jobs paid by the hour? A guaranteed minimum perhaps, but the job is to make sales and should be paid for making sales. I saw networking as a way to produce leads. If the salesperson doesn't see the value in that, so be it.

If you're required to attend, then you get paid. Otherwise, get fukt.
My friend is struggling with the gray area around “required,” “expected,” and “suggested.”

Guarantee, plus commissions.

Sounds like a slacker. No, they don't have to go, but if you're in sales - you get your fat ass out there and network, network, network, you stupid dolt!

Then, I would say go, paid or not. And turn that network into sales. That's when you get paid.

Yeah, I'm torn. It's been a long time since I had a job that paid me hourly, but when I was doing something on the company's behalf, I got paid.

I wouldn't be going to a trade show, or industry networking event if I wasn't working for that company.
