I remember my grandmother kept her 1970's phones that actually were hung on a wall and had the long, wound cords. Man, the actual part you held was so nice and heavy and solid. Why is it we had clearer conversations on those things 30 yrs ago than 2021 cellphones?I can't even remember the last time I talked on a land line. It's been several years now...
Remember party lines?Member the days when you had numbers of your friends and relatives memorized?
Wife wants one in the house for the little kids, so they can call 911 in case of an emergency. I mean, it's technically not a landline, since it's over cable, but yeah, I still have cordless phones in the house that can make phone calls.Who still uses one of these from the home? Hell, we have used landlines at work even in almost 10 years.
maybe you need to replace the batteries in your hearing aids.I remember my grandmother kept her 1970's phones that actually were hung on a wall and had the long, wound cords. Because they were hard wired and not signal basedI remember my grandmother kept her 1970's phones that actually were hung on a wall and had the long, wound cords. Wires transmit better than radios.I remember my grandmother kept her 1970's phones that actually were hung on a wall and had the long, wound cords. Man, the actual part you held was so nice and heavy and solid. Why is it we had clearer conversations on those things 30 yrs ago than 2021 cellphones?

Ironically, the people on your party lines are the last people you'd want to party with.Remember party lines?
i didn't know you could make a 10 minute long gif.Just what @HammerDown needs is SOMETHING else that requires batteries![]()
Know this from my old telecom sales days. Any phone Jack in the house can have a phone plugged in and dial 911, though that can be hit and miss from area to area depending on if that area requires a “soft dial” feature.Wife wants one in the house for the little kids, so they can call 911 in case of an emergency. I think I have a live phone line into the house, but the wire's been cut so many times, I don't think any of the jacks are still live. I should have used the basement remodel as a chance to ensure that the phone line got re-hooked, but I think it just got cut worse. At this point, I'm not even sure I can find the line in.Know this from my old telecom sales days. Any old cell phone without a plan can dial 911. There is also internet/Skype options.
I totally get the want to have that covered with kids....and to have it route to the house (and not the nearest tower) since kids young enough don’t know addresses.
Just calling it out. If you have soft dial in your area you don’t need landline service.
but can you dial 0, 0, 0, 0, 0?Know this from my old telecom sales days. Any phone Jack in the house can have a phone plugged in and dial 911, though that can be hit and miss from area to area depending on if that area requires a “soft dial” feature.

I didn't have one for a few years, when I had found some cheap double plays and had like 2 work cell phones (lol). We got one back when the employee deal with FiOS was cheaper to have a landline than anything resembling good internet by itself was.haven't had one for 18+ years and don't miss it.
