When we bought the Outback, it took the dealership forever to decide that we'd qualify for the lowest financing rate. I think their first offer was like 5% or something goofy like that. After their next offer was still above the financing rate I got from my bank, I told them to get me the .9% or lose the sale.

The Mazda was a breeze, though. 0% from the jump.

Went to undergrad in NC. If you didn't have a chance to talk to someone to figure out if they were local or from a more northern clime, late fall and winter was an easy time to figure it out. If it was 50 and they were rocking some kind of puffy coat, you knew they were soft and southern.
