Another topsy-turvy week. It's tough to figure out which 4 SEC teams get in, barring upsets. I expect a battle-tested Alabama to get past Texas in the SECCG. In this scenario, Tennessee would be the odd man out, but I wouldn't be surprised if another upset between now and then shakes things up.

Another storyline to follow is the BigXII. With BYU's loss to Kansas, Colorado is now my projected winner. There are some matchups in the next couple weeks that could be upsets for BYU/Colorado. (@ASU, @KU respectively). If they can navigate through the remaining schedule, the champ should be ranked high enough to go. HOWEVER, if chaos prevails there is a legitimate chance of the AAC champ replacing the BigXII champ in the playoff. In that scenario, Boise would move up to the 4-line, with Tulane/Army taking the 12 seed.

Auto bids need to go away. There isn't a single team in the Big 12 or ACC that would be in the top 7 of the SEC or top 5 of the Big 10.

Cinderellas are what make tournaments fun

Ex: March Madness, World Cup

And most of them view it as playing with house money and not going to win it all, so they will pull out all the trick plays. See Boise St vs OU

I agree but it seems you and I are actually in the big minority on that issue. From what I understand, the P2 don’t seem to mind and even like having them and the G5 in the mix. Only reason I can think of is the P2 want the little viewership those can bring. Otherwise it makes no sense.

It just won't be the best 12 teams. Yeah, march madness if fun, but it ain't a 12 team tournament, so letting the little autos in is fine. In college football, it should be the top 12 teams, regardless of conference. Honestly, 12 is a damn stupid number. Should be 16 & let 'er rip!

12 is strange. I’m not a fan of byes but I could live with them if they were incetives for the top four teams period. Instead of the top four conference champions. I also like incentivizing the home field aspect of the playoffs. I’d like them to go to 16 and play all but the final on campus. Screw the bowls.

The B12s current #4 beat the B1Gs current number 5 soooo that last part ain’t true.
Plus, last place Oklahoma State (0-7) in the Big XII has a win over Arkansas. Cherry picked games - of course.

You and I both know the Big XII Champion is usually not going to be as good as the SEC Champion, etc, but the Big XII is deep and has a lot of good teams.

Either way, if other conferences are not represented, it's really not a National Championship Tournament.

If the SEC and B1G want an SEC and B1G exclusive event, they can have one. Just have a 16 team bracket with the top 8 SEC vs. the top 8 B1G teams and let her rip! Just call it what it is.

They could do it if they wanted to and that is exactly what I think ends up happening.

But it could be a little incestuous if one conference wins most of the first round games.

I'd love to see the Top 4 SEC teams play the Top 4 B1G teams this year and see what happens.

I like this. One of the best parts of CFB is the home atmospheres. Playing on a neutral field, especially reg season is lame.

While a traditionalist, I’m one for even the traditional neutral site games like the RRSO and WLOCP going to campuses. Florida players never get to experience playing between the hedges. Texas players never get to experience playing in Norman.

At least playing on site saves 1/2 the fans some travel. I don’t know what the visitor ticket allocations are going to be for the first round games.

Yeah, I’d really not prefer that. That’s pretty much a death kill to every program not in those two conferences being left out of that. The b1G and SEC getting more is absolutely fine. I just want the conference that my program is in to have a seat at the table.

i don't mind them getting an auto bid but a first rd bye?? ehh But i'll take it regardless.. can't over react to something that has yet to be played out on the field

Exactly. If they were going to go past 8, they might as well make it 16 teams.
