Clemson’s 19-13 home win over previously unbeaten Boston College didn’t impress voters enough to keep the Tigers in the Top 25. Thus ends their streak of 107 consecutive weeks in the rankings. The last time the Tigers were unranked was the week of Oct. 5, 2014.

Cincinnati too low.

So Oregon and Ohio State are ranked right by each other but both have Ohio State, who lost to Oregon at home, ranked above Oregon.
Close game, close rankings. Sounds about right

Bit of overreaction to blow out wins of Akron and Rutgers

Food for thought:

The rankings are relevant for one reason only: EXPOSURE for the Top 25 ranked teams (highlights on SC, etc.)

Iowa State was ranked #14 before they lost @ Baylor by 2 points. Plenty of highlights of that game were shown. The Cyclones missed a FG in that game - which was one of the little things that cost them the game. Moreover, that loss dropped them to (2-2) and out of the ranking into the others receiving votes category.

This week, they throttled Kansas 59-7 to raise their record to (3-2) and did not receive a single VOTE. They looked great, but since they were not ranked, the highlights were not shown nationally. Ergo, no votes for Iowa State, even though they played like the team they were expected to be this season.

I'm not arguing that they should be ranked (they shouldn't be with two early losses), but a missed FG 2 weeks ago @ Baylor is literally the difference in Iowa State being a (4-1) fringe Top 10 team and not receiving a single vote as a (3-2) team this week! That is just a wacky swing!

The good news is that an idle week off of chaos on 10/09, a win @ Kansas State on 10/16 and a win over Oklahoma State @ JTS on 10/23 should be enough to get them ranked again for the home-stretch.

It's Brocktober.

Let's Go State!

Meh...best team in Ohio for sure, but I don't know about the Nation.

Miscues have really hurt Iowa St. At this point of the season, they have out gained all of their opponents including:
Iowa: 2.9 yards per play vs Iowa St: 4.8 ypp
Baylor: 5.4 ypp vs Iowa St.: 6.6 ypp

For that reason I still have them ranked. They've played better competition than most and I don't think they should be punish because of it

Tosu loses at home to a team that lost to Stanford. Hasn’t beat anyone of note. Is ranked #7. Texas lost to a pretty good Arky team. Beat a then ranked and otherwise undefeated ULALA. Is ranked #21

A 3-2 record would do that at this point in the season. They will be back if they win a couple of games and end up at 5-2.

i couldn't help but laugh at that.

OHST lost to a legit top 10 team and blew out a pretty decent Rutgers team.

Oregon's loss is pretty forgivable. On the road, in OT to a decent Stanford team. Ducks had more penalties and TO's.

In the 1st half, Stanford scored a TD on a short field after a Ducks TO. Before HT, instead of taking the 3, Ducks TO'd on downs at Stanford's goal line.

More awful playcalling at the end of the 4th qtr left time on the clock for Stanford to tie it up.

So, pretty much a fluke.

Texas lost to a pretty good Arky team. Beat a then ranked and otherwise undefeated ULALA. Is ranked #21

ULL is average at best. They barely beat FCS Nicholls St., barely beat GA Southern, and barely beat South AL. Ohio (1-4) also hung with them for 3 qtrs.

Michigan State should be around 17 honestly
