Week 7 LOL thread

No, I said I can rest easy knowing that Michigan is in the playoff either way. Nothing is on the line but pride, much easier to handle defeat, and victory is less sweet, when the outcome doesn't matter towards your overall chances at success.
No you didn't. But spin away. Olympic level gymnastics.

"Can’t wait until potentially undefeated Michigan Ohio state this year! Where in a 12 team format I can rest easy knowing the outcome doesn’t matter."

Pretty clearly said in context of the playoff "12 team format"

And yet, the outcome would still matter to you because you don't want to lose to your much hated rival. Again, it does still matter. A lot. If it does not, maybe college football isn't for you.

I don't want to lose to Ohio State....but I'd much rather lose to Ohio State and still be guaranteed a playoff spot than lose to Ohio State and be out of the running entirely. (see how those things are similar but very different?)

Looks like Tennessee is trying to out-poor OU.

The OSU engineering department supposedly designed the goalposts at The Shoe so that they can't be taken down, or so says my son, who took some engineering classes there. Says the prof explained how they did it and it has something to do with torsion and the amount of stress that would be necessary to succeed or some complicated bullhockey like that.

Oh yeah, you can't go wrong with complicated bullhockey, that's the way

Of course, you don't get good complicated bullhockey these days, not like we used to, no sir

I assure you, that's a "you" problem, not a CFB problem. When I am at the UTjr game, if you don't think I am going to be jazzed and hateful, even knowing we would both get into a 12-team CFP, you are nuts and from my perspective not a very good CFB fan. If you can't gin up hate for tOSU because you might get a 5-12 seed in the CFP, you really shouldn't call yourself a CFB or UM football fan, IMO.

Not sure if OU wants to be laughing at Riley/USC. He has them competing nationally in year 1, while OU has given up 41, 55, 49 and 42 in their last 4 games.

I understand the hostility towards him, as I'd feel the same if a Michigan HC, left to take another college HC job, but he has USC looking WAY better than they have looked in a long, long time.
But, Venables and Schmidt got Oklahoma looking tough.

So it is a money grab. I.E. games that will draw millions of eyes, but definitely not all really good football games.

It has already been established -- we can't find 4 teams worthy of the playoff in a year. If they could -- the average margin of victory in the CFP semis wouldn't be 3+ tds -- that's over, I believe 16 games? Bringing in 12 teams is going to do what? Again -- CFB is NOT college basketball. What makes March Madness so amazing is any team can win on any given day. That isn't the case in football. The talent advantage is so skewed in favor of a handful of teams -- that while a 12 team playoff sounds great, it is still essentially a 2-3 team race each year.

I'd go a step further. You won't even see a team ranked 6th, 7th, 8th, etc. even make it to the CFP title game, let alone win a national title.

Don't get me wrong -- I will be watching and I love they are going to 12 teams. My team will get many more opportunities, but i'm not foolish. If we can't beat Ohio State, there is zero chance we are going to win a play in game, then beat the #1 or #2 team in the country, then do the same in the next game.

It is nothing more than a participation trophy for more teams, but it will be the same teams we see every year playing for the national titles.
You are nothing if not consistent. Go take Econ 101 and then come back - the whole money grab thing is absurd.

You continually miss all the things built into the 12-team CFP, as well as the rationale for it. I've explained it over and over. There will be no changing your mind.

Can't believe they weren't prepared for that.
That $100k dollar fine and the cost of those goal post replacements may be a heavy burden for them. Glad Bama could impact that pocket book a bit.
