Ben is the reason I'll always have difficulty pronouncing Ms. Harris's name the way that she likes. Vince McMahon is at fault too I guess.

"Kamala" is Kamala Parks who used to do the booking for all of the Gilman St. bands.

I used to go to 924 in Berkeley once in a while back in the mid and late 80's.

Saw some good bands there honing some of their tunes before they became well known...ie: Rancid, Green Day.

This is much more like watching. I saw these guys backing up Derek Trucks and his wife in V Town. They couldn't get their bass player across the border but.. I think it was Trucks, might have been Band of Joy?

I love his coffee can Rollin' and Tumblin'.

I recently found a bunch of videos on YT of shows I went to in Toronto as a teenager. The guys I used to go with are way easier to identify than I am (one of them was an Indian dude with offensive lineman size and hair like Courtney Love and the other basically looked like a 6'4" Archie Andrews) but I spotted myself stage diving and crowd surfing a few times. Really fun to watch now and a nice bit of nostalgia.

I was living down in LA during the beginning of the new wave /post punk/ ska rebirth eras.
Those were some fun & crazy times. The club scene back then was incredible.
In hindsight, I'm glad to have experienced it...and happy I survived it all.

The Crusaders.....

Joe Sample - Keyboards
Wayne Henderson - Trombone
Wilton Felder- Bass, saxophone
Stix Hooper - Drums
Larry Carlton - Guitar

Great band, great album. I haven't listened to The Crusaders in years, TBH. For whatever reason, they fell off my radar. When I was about 16, I first heard them on FM radio out of Seattle; definitely one of the bands that drew me into contemporary jazz.

I lived down in the dregs of Vancouver during the heyday of the Vancouver punk rock scene (~1979-80). Not for the faint of heart but definitely something I'll never forget being a small part of.

More than 40% of the Vancouver population has been a member of D.O.A. at some point in time:lol:
