Surprisingly, Evan Williams Single Barrel is pretty decent.
White label is always on hand, but I drink everything neat typically anyway.

Ahh, yeah. I'd mix that oneHonestly can't remember...it was the only bottle of Four Roses this particular store had. It tasted really raw, like wild turkey or Beam, which is totally fine if that's what I'm expecting/paid for. I remember this bottle being more expensive and I was disappointed. It was on the higher shelf with the better stuff.
Just did a quick image search and I believe what I had was the Yellow Label:

October 31 to January 1 is what I refer to as fat season. I let myself eat and drink (within reason) pretty much whatever. January 2 is the start of Pretend Like You Live in Soviet Russia So You Can Stop Being a Fat Ass Season.Yep, I'll keep at least one of mine out on a stand for now on. Out of sight and out of mind. This way you'll see it and feel guilty if you don't pick it up for even a few minutes. Much like getting rid of all the junk food and stocking the fridge with vegetables. If it's available, it's a lot easier to stick to it.
Plan to work on losing the Covid 19 or so weight I put on after losing 70 pounds the previous year and 3 months prior to March. Get back into a workout routine and some guitar playing to hopefully stick to. Finished off all my homebrew beer this weekend and just have a half a handle of Evan Williams white label remaining for now and until New Year's, then I need to detox for at least a month. Covid has greatly increased my tolerance and I need to cut back.

I'm not sure I've ever had their White Label. Maybe when I took their tour in Louisville? I just remember the Single Barrel standing out and that's all I've ever bought from them since.White label is always on hand, but I drink everything neat typically anyway.
II like 4 roses small batch over single barrel. It tastes smoother to me.

Thanks guysThats the lowest tier of Four Roses and most will use it to mix. You should try the single barrel or small batch if you can find them next time.
It's a win win for me because I like the cheaper one. Rare for me....lolI
I would never kick it out of bed, but I prefer single barrel for a few dollars more. Better yet is McKenna.

Same here, I'll drink the harshest stuff, but it better come cheap.I'm from the moonshine capital of the world, so harsh liquor doesn't bother me at all and have no problem saving some money. Hell, Benchmark is cheap as all, but surprising good.
My goto cheap liquor to get in large quantities is Johnny Walker red label. Can get a handle here for $35.Same here, I'll drink the harshest stuff, but it better come cheap.
My dad drinks Ancient Age and ol Grandad, but he always mixes it with ginger. One year I bought him a bottle of makers' but he refused to drink it neat. So I went out and got him a bottle of Noilly and taught him how to make a manhattan at least.
That's pretty good, around here it's more like 45-50 for a handle. Liters are 30-35. Don't care for the red myself but I'm too cheap to buy the Blue Label. My goto cheap liquor to get in large quantities is Johnny Walker red label. Can get a handle here for $35.
Duh...all this bourbon talk and I never mentioned the coolest gift I got this year:

I have always wanted a shaker but I told myself, "nah, that's just a space hog, you got plenty of mason jars with lids." This year the wife bought me one
This might end up sitting in the cabinet a lot. I go through periods where I'll be making a lot of martinis or manhattans and then I won't drink anything for 6 months.I've gotten similar gift sets before, but found I never used them. Since most of the time I drink bourbon neat, and if mixing something else, I always eyeball it. Then after a couple, my pours get longer and longer. This is also why I never drank liquor at a bar, since I'd drink it too fast and go from sober to hammered without a buzz.
Beer will at least give you what I call the urinal check. If you start swaying while taking a piss after each beer, you need to back off a little. If you have to put your hand or head against the wall to stabilize, you're done.
