What Is The PAC’s or Big 12’s Move?

It's going to suck geographically, but the remaining PAC and Xii schools need to merge, ASAP. That's a pretty strong conference.

Big problem is that the PAC schools don't want to have anything to do with the private religious schools like Baylor, TCU, BYU.

I like OP's premise but I hate the thought of Cal-Berkeley being left out in the cold. That's THE flagship school in the Cal state system.

hard for me to see current Pac schools leaving to the Big12 if the BiG doesn't come extending hands.

I can see the Arizona schools getting left out of any B1G expansion. And I think they're a perfect fit for the Xii

if/when the BiG comes calling for some more west coast schools, I can understand some schools leaving to the Big12.. but until that happens.. I doubt anyone jumps ship to the Big12.. People say it's more money but who knows what the Big12 is going to get without UT/ou being in the picture. We joke about the tv contract of the PAC, but they have a network, Big12 doesn't.

Other dominos need to fall before anyone else starts making moves.

1st domino is Notre Dame. Are they going to join the Big Ten? If so, who goes with them? Oregon's been reported as a partner but speculation on Washington and Stanford exist.

If nobody in the PAC joins USC/UCLA in going to the Big Ten, the PAC survives. They'll probably look to add San Diego State and one other (Boise, UNLV or Fresno make the most sense). They'll probably invite some Big 12 members but I'm not sure anyone would make the move.

If the PAC loses Oregon and potentially Washington/Stanford, then the remaining schools will try to get into the Big 12. Big 12 will have to decide who they want. Oregon and Washington have the most value of the remaining PAC schools so if the Big 12 can add them, that's a no brainer. However, they likely won't be available because if they don't join the Big Ten, the PAC probably survives. That leaves Utah, Arizona, Arizona State and Colorado as the most attractive options. Potentially Stanford or Cal but that's a very weird fit.

I've seen projections of around 15mm per school once yall are gone.

WVU and Oklahoma State to the PAC for different/new time zones :noidea:

damn.. from 40 plus just on tier1 and tier2 contracts to 15 for all 3? LOL, hope they saved money when they were on the gravy train

And that was the point Tom Osborne was trying to get across before he took Nebraska to the B1G. The game play has been rough at times but we got to see all the games and not on pay per view Like when we were in the Big XII. It’s really sad that the remaining Big XII teams didn’t push for a BXII network.

osborne said no to it.. Beebe even confirmed it

Osborne asked Texas if they would sign over their GOR to a B1G network and was told no making a B XII network impossible.

lol what? GOR? lol LHN wasn't even a thing when they asked through Beebe about a conference network lol. Osborne said he was already looking into a TV deal for nebraska only..

later Deloss then approached aggy with it thinking it can be a Texas channel..

ND probably isn’t going to make a move unless a majority of the teams in the ACC decide to move on and if that happens it won’t be PAC teams joining ND.

Your best shot is to cherry pick both the PAC and Big 12 and form a new league because adding San Diego State just drags you further down. Trying to salvage the PAC is a fools game.

I’d wait to see if the B1G’s position is solid but it appears to be. You guys need to be proactive now or risk major issues in recruiting and prestige.

Sure it was a LHN thing and the Texas gor to the B XII Conference. Otherwise 4 (FOUR) schools not named Texas nor it’s lap dog OU wouldn’t have left to join other conferences - three considered as better than the Big XII. The B1G didn’t have to put up with a Buckeye network nor did the SEC put up with a Bama network. Of course the difference being those two mentioned schools are Nationally relevant in football an opposite to Texas.

Good luck in the SEC where you will be considered a newbie and your school’s opinions will amount to very little among founding member schools. I am still amazed that granted all the money ESPN sunk in Texas and all that in state talent good old Texas could NOT get it to work into Conference & National football titles.

Even then don't 'officially' do anything other than an announcement until the GOR's expire in 2024 and 2025.

That way USC/UCLA/TX/OU stay put until those GOR's expire. If either leave early the PAC and Big 12 get Big 10 and SEC cash.

Right now USC/UCLA/TX/OU the SEC and Big 10 are all rootin' for an ASAP panic merger.

ESPN bought a pig in a poke when they made that deal. And Texas took the check and got fat and sassy. Kind of like the new LIV golf tour. We'll pay you $200 million just to join our tour. Don't matter how you play....just show up and play.

Yeah no need to do anything until the GORs end but I would be working on the structure.

There is a shot the B1G takes more PAC teams but my guess is they really want the ACC teams like Virginia, GT and UNC along with ND. If I had to guess the B1G and SEC stay where they are until 2036 and then the ACC ceases to exist and will be cherry picked.

lol all these years later and you are still mad.. again.. before the LHN came about.. it was first pitched as a conference network which your great Oz said no to..

LOL we don't need luck in the SEC.. We are Texas.. you think we gonna be cry babies the way y'all have been in the BiG?!?!? Grow some nuts man

Free advice to Nebraska: It's easy to hate Texas but it's self destructive to obsess about them. If you want to co-exist with Texas you need to beat them on a regular basic and then there is a foundation for mutual respect that allows them to work with you for common goals. Texas also hates OU so it works both ways.
