What Is The PAC’s or Big 12’s Move?

Let’s assume the B1G is done and future expansion is going to come out of the ACC.

They have to fight for expansion:

I think the Big 12 holds the cards on this one and they go after:

Oregon
Washington
Colorado
Utah
Arizona State
Arizona

It makes for an 18 team conference which is not a great number but should get them a seat at the table. The B1G and SEC need OOC schools to play so keeping this group viable will be important.
You would think they would want 2-4 more in the west to have a western division/pod … more for the sports other than football.

if/when the BiG comes calling for some more west coast schools, I can understand some schools leaving to the Big12.. but until that happens.. I doubt anyone jumps ship to the Big12.. People say it's more money but who knows what the Big12 is going to get without UT/ou being in the picture. We joke about the tv contract of the PAC, but they have a network, Big12 doesn't.
A 16 team B12 with the two AZ schools, Utah (partner with BYU) and Colorado would be more profitable than the ACC. It would also end the PAC, especially if Ore and Wash go to the B1G. I can see Stanford and Cal going to the B1G, but not the B12. I am not sure why the B1G would want Cal and Stanford. I suppose to lock down Cali, and their non-football sports.

Do all of those schools you mentioned all have Olympic Sports too ???
Aren't UCLA/USC going to need some of that too ?? Or do the BIG schools carry those

I haven't heard any serious Cal to the Big Ten talks. I'm not saying it can't happen (everything is a little crazy right now) but I think it's far less likely than Stanford, Oregon and Washington.

I think Stanford has more traction because ND probably likes the idea of that being a protected rivalry if they join the Big Ten. Stanford and USC.

The B1G has most of the Olympic sports. I think except for beach volleyball.

lol all these years later and you are still mad.. again.. before the LHN came about.. it was first pitched as a conference network which your great Oz said no to..

LOL we don't need luck in the SEC.. We are Texas.. you think we gonna be cry babies the way y'all have been in the BiG?!?!? Grow some nuts man
Mad? ROFLMAO at Texas ruining conferences since 1996. You can catch up on that with Arkansas and aTm. Try convincing them it won’t happen again.

1. the answer is Auburn in 2013
2. Tenn???? Florida???? Florida last won it in 2008 Auburn actually has 2 titles since then.
and Tennessee last won it in 1998. not even sure any players on the current team were alive then.

You're right.....I forgot all about Auburn.

On that note the SEC has seen six different teams out of how many teams in the SEC since the 1950's

The point being the Bama and other so called power houses in the pad their winnings with weaker teams.

If the BiG has quality teams from top to bottom they aren't going to have dominated teams like the Bamas.

and whats the right one? neither has been to the playoffs playing in the Pac.
Good question....

I doubt they are going to make the playoff anytime soon playing in the BiG but they are going to get more money playing in that conference.

If they (USC and UCLA) went to a weaker conference and won year in and year out conference titles they might make as much money as playing in the BiG but then again probably not.

Jesus, my horns were 9-1 vs y'all in Big12 play.. not only did we ruin the SWC, Big12.. but the backs of Nebraska..

May I add.. I think Colorado is the real conference killer.. they helped kill the Big 8.. left the Big12 which forced Nebraska to crawl on top of Mizzu to get to the BiG.. then when they arrived in the Pac12.. they chased SC and UCLA away because they sucked so bad nobody watched them.. Now they probably will head back to the Big12 and finish it off..

The best outcome is the Big 12 takes everyone not named Oregon or Washington State. It doesn't make the same money as the Big 2 but it probably keeps them in striking distance and sets up a scenario where when the ACC gets raided in 2036 they can pick up Louisville and Pitt and stay viable as a P3 conference.

The B1G has most of the Olympic sports. I think except for beach volleyball.
When the OSU AD was having a press conference about all of this, one of the questions asked was about beach volleyball. "Will you be installing beach volleyball courts, Gene?" Smith: "Sure, as soon as you write the check." LOL.

if Beach volleyball is that important to SC, they can always play as an independent? They have enough money to to get those into whatever conference has multiple teams in that sport. I'm not sure if they were trolling or not, but on XM yesterday, they said AZ st has a hockey team that plays in the BiG?

I believe they have a scheduling agreement with the Big Ten. I don't think they're technically a member.

ahh so they were right then.. it doesn't matter if they aren't a member but they were able to work something out as far as scheduling. SC VB team is safe :)

I'd prefer to watch some of those matchups instead of Rutgers vs Illinois or something similar. But, I live in Texas and have no idea what a fan in Florida or somewhere similar would prefer. How about Floridians. Would you prefer to watch games like Rutgers vs Illinois or Baylor vs Arizona?

Bottom line is none of the four really draw national eyeballs.
