Strangely enough this was on the radio all the time. It was our summer of love. I wasn't in a rush to get my license.

My future mother-in-law used to sing the song to my wife when i wasn't around.

Baby Don't Get Hooked On MeMac Davis

Don't know exact date I actually got my license but I was 16 years old in October 1968 and I got my license issued sometime in October.

And Hey Jude! by the Beatles was #1 ln October 1968 (and beyond, I believe). So THAT was it!

Dont Want to Miss a Thing by Aerosmith 😕

Can't remember the exact date but it was around August '86, so it could have been Glory of Love by Peter Cetera, Papa Don't Preach by Madonna, or Higher Love by Steve Winwood

All gross
Just use your 16th birthday like everyone else, this isn't all that hard.

I dated a girl in HS that ran into a telephone pole during Driver's Ed class. Happened right outside the school....during school! She was so traumatized by this accident that she refused to ever drive again. For many many years this was the case. She eventually had to learn to drive after having kids....

What, like a Farm License or something

No that was the law in Louisiana back then. 15years old. Didn't need anything else...go take a written test then a driving test. Parallel park at the end and Boom! They took your picture and then handed you your license. Everyone went on their birthday....it was a custom.

...

And when I turned 18 it was legal to buy alcohol. LOL!

Louisiana didn't raise the legal drinking age until 1986...I was over 21 by then.

But I didn't get my license on my 16th birthday, and that's not what OP asked.

It wasn't any harder for me to look at the 3 songs that were #1 around that time. Why do you hate rules and freedom?
