What's going to happen at Clemson

Maybe just maybe lanning is oregons DC to join Dabo who will be HC

hmmmmm

2022, 2023, 2024 when Saban retires, do you think Dabo would stay at Oregon or go to Bama?

It doesn't appear Oregon wants to spend what it would take to get Dabo anyway, so your exuberance is irrational.

Dabo to Oregon

Right @OregonDucks

Well done.

You planted the seed of mental gymnastics with that one.

I'd bank on Dabo still having the 'IT' factor (elite) and to properly replace the assistants that departed to keep Clemson in upper echelons like he has for 6 of the last 7 years.
They have the coin to dangle in front of some good ones. I'd expect them to be able to replace them.

I'm hoping Michigan takes their place as Alabama's challenger in the playoffs......................................................
Until UM loosens the admission strings that won't be happening. There is so much talent in the transfer portal, JUCO, etc.. these days that UM misses out on. I can't even recall if we've ever allowed a JUCO to transfer in. And the transfer portal, we've only had a select few they'e allowed in. The admissions need to knock off the better than thou BS.

Michigan let a shitty ex- Iowa QB transfer in. Even became your starter.

We’re going to be fine. We aren’t going anywhere. To be honest, the only thing that hurts here is losing Venables.

An AD isn’t a coach, so I don’t see this hurting us. If Dabo needs/wants anything, he’s going to get it.

Tony Elliot leaving is a blessing. The offense has regressed under his watch. He was handed the keys to a Ferrari and drove it like an old blue hair with an Oldsmobile. Good luck to the guy, but “bye Felicia.”

Losing assistants can be good and bad. If these guys have been working with BV all this time , it may be best to get some new blood with a new DC, so there isn’t a clash between the old and new.

Losing Venables is, by far , the greatest loss here. He’s the reason we managed to muster 9 wins this year. He’s the reason we have 2 Titles. His defenses are fucking awesome! Gonna miss this guy. This will be biggest hire Dabo has to make. Huge shoes to fill.

I expect Brandon Streeter to get the nod for OC.
I’m not sure who he’ll promote or go get for DC.

Agree with this mostly. I don’t hate Elliot. But I don’t think he’s great. At times he can be so fucking predictable. But then there were stretches where I saw a lot of creativity. Streeter will probably get promoted. I’m kind of hoping Jeff Scott gets fired next year after three years and Dabo brings him back.

Drad, meh. I liked that he started the softball program. But really in the end, you just need a guy willing to spend money in the big sports. Apparently the interim guy has been groomed for this.

Venables really is the only big loss. I don’t mind giving Bates a shot. He’s been around Venables for a few years so maybe he’s picked up on a lot.

Yea, I’m not against giving Bates or Streeter a shot, just keep them on a short leash.

We can get grad transfers in. It is the guys who want to transfer in with multiple years of eligibility where UM screws themselves.

Even got drafted into the NFL. He was one of my favorite QB's we've had in the last 10 years. Nothing flashy -- extremely smart

I've still got Dabo in elite coach category.

The close loss to Georgia in the opener was nothing to be ashamed of. That Hanson Brothers kid likely wins that.

Their close win against GT followed by the loss @ N.C. State, two more questionably close wins (B.C./Cuse), the loss to Pitt followed by two more questionable close wins (FSU/L'ville) was a WTF's going on here.
However, they closed with 3 big margin wins. One being Wake Forest (48-27) and another rival in S.C. (30-0).

the defense was elite. their passing game was just atrocious. Sometimes elite programs just have a down year.

Which isn't unusual for Hawkeye players. The funny thing is a 3 star Iowa QB comes in and gets the starting job over all Harbaugh's blue chip guys.
