Where are we with the CFP after week 12?

I honestly hope a 2 loss Bama gets in

Bama getting preferential treatment in 2011 is what finally pushed us to 4 teams

It happening again this year gets us to 8 or 12 asap

Progress always takes something like that happening to provide the impetus
A lot of truth here ... Bama v. LSU got is from BCS to CFP. I can see Bama with 2 losses hastening the 12 team CFP expansion. I am all for that.

WHY? Cuz of UGA’s great defeats of Arky, Auburn, and Kentucky?
Because they are clearly one of the 4 best teams, even should they lose to Alabama. That's the charge of the committee. Dominating wins over those 3 teams certainly are part of UGA's resume. If you followed college football, which you evidently don't, you would know all the other reasons, too.

Seeing you guys play the likes of Arky (oh, wait, they beat you this year), Auburn and Kentucky regularly is going to be fun. Can't wait to get you guys in SEC play.

Love the arguments of the dunce on full display: “if you followed x, and I know you don’t obviously… then you would know other things I’m not mentioning.”

fucking children and their small brains.

- UGA is in no matter what. If we win the SECCG, we will be seeded 1. Otherwise 2 or 3. I suppose that if we get blown out we could drop to 5 if everyone else wins big. Just don't see any of that happening.

The remaining teams with a chance:

tOSU or UM, presuming the winner will beat Wisky/Iowa/Minny. If Wisky/Iowa/Minny wins, the B1G is out.
With Oregon losing, the PAC is out. This was a big win for Bama, as I don't think a 2 loss Bama gets in over a 1 loss PAC and B12 champ.
With Wake losing, ACC is out, although I think they were already out.

That leaves:
- Cincinnati with an impressive win over SMU (SMH), with only Houston in the way.
- ND - only a terrible Stanford to play and a loss to Cincy
- Bama - if they beat us they are in, seeded 1. If the lose close it's not so certain.

I am going with the following assumptions (which we know is terribly stupid):
- UM or tOSU wins out, so a 1 loss B1G champ.
- OU or OSU wins out, so a 1 loss B12 champ.
- Cincy wins out, so undefeated G5
- ND wins out, so 1 loss ND
- Bama loses to us, so a 2 loss Bama

In this scenario, it will be:
1 UGA
2 tOSU/UM
3 OU/OSU
4 Cincy

I say this based on the fact that they will not let a 2 loss team in. Cincy gets in over ND as both are Indy, but Cincy beat ND @ ND. If Bama truly gets the benefit of the doubt, which they probably will, then Cincy gets bumped. Bama will be seeded 3, with OU/OSU 4.

In that scenario it would be:
1 UGA
2 tOSU/UM
3 Bama
4 Cincy/B12

Should Bama beat us it will be:

1 Bama
2 tOSU/UM
3 UGA
4 Cincy/B12

I believe at the end of the day we will have to beat Cincy or the B12 champ. Then the winner of Bama v tOSU. Think we will have to beat Bama twice to get this done.

Where am I wrong?

They wouldn't rematch UGA and Bama right off in the semis. If Bama loses to you guys, they will be four at best, if they win, you guys would only drop to two or to four.

Basically called names, didn't respond to substantive discussion. And I have a small brain, LOL. Welcome to the SEC!

Do you really need for me to point out that we are the only team in the top 10 on O and D efficiency? That we are giving up something like 6 points a game and then next team is giving up 17 per game or something like that? Do I really need to point out that we seriously went through the entire first 2/3 of our schedule with WRs 1-5 out with injury, and TE1 out? That we have most of those back now? Or that we have started a former WO QB, and our QB1 may be ready in time for the playoffs? That teams we've beaten average something like 25 points less in their games against us than when they don't play us?

See, I thought if you followed CFB you would know those things, and your post indicated that you didn't.

Agreed ... thinking that if Bama gets in with 2 losses, the argument would be that they lost to no. 1 and they would drop to 3. That would give you:

1 UGA
2 tOSU
3 Bama
4 Cincy/B12

If Bama wins, they would to go to 1, we would drop to 3.

1 Bama
2 tOSU
3 UGA
4 Cincy/B12

That's if they let a 2 loss team in, something they haven't done in the past. The only way it won't happen is if OSU or OU look great and win out; same with tOSU/UM; and Cincy beats Houston soundly.

Yeah, I read your original post wrong and screwed up the numbers in my head. That's what I get for posting at 4:30 am

Man, I want to say Ohio State at it's best vs Georgia. That game would have some fireworks.

I hear you ... I am wrapping up a project right how so I can get a day off tomorrow. It's fucking late.

There could be some really interesting matchups.

Bama v. tOSU ... two powerful Os, with talented Ds that aren't playing as well as they have historically played.
UGA v. Bama/tOSU ... two powerful Os going up against one of the best Ds ever? With an very underrated UGA O seeing if it can have its best game.

Think Cincy gets abused by all 3. Just can't wrap my brain around what OU is, and am really starting to think that OSU might emerge from the B12.

I'm at my son's boy scout lock in and can't sleep on a damn air mattress
Better you than me ... my kids are college age, but I froze my ass off on a number of Y Guides outings. Ubiquitous Internet - not sure if that would have made it better or worse.

Hell of a game today. Couldn't believe it when I flipped over expecting a close game and it was 49-0. Damn, if that's the type of D 100 million gets you someone needs to reconsider that move.

Well we definitely get to see the second one. Bama will have to really up their game to bear Georgia IMO. But its Saban and Bama so it wouldn't surprise me if they come out and play their best game of the year in the SECCG

My FIL called me when he heard the score on the radio talking about how they won 49-0. he didn't hear that it was only halftime.

When Ohio States offense is clicking it's just really tough to stop them. The trio of receivers always pose at least one mismatch

Because they beat the hell out of who they played. No slip ups like Michigan State had with Purdue. Like Oregon had with Stanford, and so forth. No bad halves like Oklahoma against Kansas. Every team on their schedule so far is above 0.500 but one. If they lose, it is to the number 2 team. UGA has two shutouts with four other FBS teams held in single digits. They have out scored their opponents 387-76, not counting the game yesterday. Even with a loss, what other one loss teams can claim anything close to that?

So you want bullshit that helped the SEC happen again so we can see more bullshit that helps the SEC?

If Bama gets in with two losses and supplants Cinci or the b12 champ, it really is time to boycott this years cfp
Hell. If UGA loses the CCG, they shouldn’t get in over a one loss b12 champ. This sec sycophancy needs to stop.

Yep. CCG's are a play in. If you can't win your conference you don't deserve a playoff spot. With a 4 team playoff there should NEVER be multiple teams from the same conference in.

I think the playoffs are set unless an upset happens

Georgia, Ohio State/Michigan, Alabama and Cincinnati.

If Cincy goes down, it's down to ND or the Big 12 winner (if they still have 1 loss)

I wanna see

UGA win out
Wisky win B10
Baylor win B12
Pitt win ACC
Auburn beat Bama
Houston beat Cincy

Then watch everyone try to figure shit out lol
That would definitely be entertainment worth paying to see.
