Where are you going to retire?

I ain't going anywhere. I had 45+ years to move. Hell, the way people are leaving Illinois, I'll have the place all to myself. Welcome to kburjr's kingdom. All laws can be ignored.

my kid, not yours...
I might wanna retire near @williewilliejuan 's daughters :eyebrows:

I'm about 40 miles from Juice.
I was going to stop and have a beer with him. Then he started posting all his stupid shit denigrating boomers and snowbirds so now I just give him the finger as I go by.
He's just a miniature version of Scaramucci, he's not a real person!

Holy shit, I don't think I could ever do that shit. There is something incredibly unnerving about living on a goddamned island that is only 25 miles long, or 50 square fucking miles!?!

Fffuuuck that.
Bunch of freak'n wusses... Can't handle a little "potential" volcanic activity. :heh:

I love the smell of lava in the morning...

Just turned 50, so I'm starting to plan things like I won't actually die in my office.

Anyone have any hot tips?

@HammerDown , you're in the Caribbean aren't ya? What part?

We've taken some trips to Belize and have one scheduled for Costa Rica this summer to scope things out.
Went to the US Virgin Islands in late August......very nice but too short of a trip.

I don't think I'll ever retire. My grandpa is pushing 80 and still works full time and not because he has to, and I take after him a lot.

If I live long enough, they'll find me dead in a rock quarry when I'm 80.

If I have a change of heart, probably some place like Harlan, KY. Land is pretty and cheap
Thought you wanted to go to Wyoming and live off the grid?

Soooo many places to go. For me it's all about getting what I want for the best possible value.

@TigerBait1971 we were in the Caribbean for almost three years but now somewhere else.
You're not misleading us, you're in the Witness Protection Program!!!!

Gonna buy me a mobile home in town right here in SW Iowa. New, but nice and cheap. Downsize my possessions, buy a big ol' TV, sell my truck, buy a mid size SUV and a Harley.
Then I'll ride all summer and ice fish all winter.

If I don’t have an address within 10-15 miles of this when I die, I’d be surprised.

When I’m too old to go on vacations I’ll prolly kill myself. Don’t see myself retiring anywhere. Don’t see myself retiring period tbh. But I’m not exactly a career oriented person in the first place. Last time I had a paid day off, I was glogging on CBS.

Come you can come out and say it we all know you moved into a rent controlled condo in downtown Detroit!
We've known since you got back man, its okay a lot of their fans wont even admit they live there

Hawaii is expensive isn't it?

Or that's the impression I have, which could be totally wrong.

Well if we are over paying for bacon in grocery stores now double that price.

I'm a Maui junkie, I love it there. The pace of life is soo slower and just calming.
When I make the jump Im going to find a butcher over there and just order a pig and side of beef every year. That will keep some of the cost down and they do have some farms on that island.

It's 10x the cost of other tropical places I know. Take the same money to the Philippines and live like a king on a private beach and it's almost certainly much safer. The big drawbacks are that it's so far away from the US it takes two days to get back and the typhoons.

I hear South America is nice if you’re not into beer and sports message boards.
