I missed the presser for Napier. Describe why it was terrible, please.
You can judge yourself. A few things … he read good entire statement. You might say big deal. Big time Head coaches don’t have to read their statements, they know this shit. Second, he’s basically blowing up this class … huge mistake. They are down to 4 recruits, ranking in the 80s. That will kill you for years. I’ve never seen a coach do that. Also makes you wonder when he meets with top recruits and they decommit the next day. Finally he actually said stars don’t matter in recruiting … unreal for someone hired to replace MuLLLLen.

FWIW … this start aside, for a non-splash hire, it seems to be a good one. He’s respected, Saban tree at some level. But G5 coaches don’t have a great track record. I thought Fedora would be great at at UNC. Fuentes at VaTech, etc. Any Gator saying this is a home run hire is just hoping so.

Stars don't matter if a kid isnt coachable.. a 5* that thinks his shit don't stink and isn't coachable won't out perform a 3* who is coachable and wants it bad enough..

USC with a real coach seems obvious. Venables will succeed immediately, will he once they enter the SEC? Probably, but less. I think Brian Kelly will fail at LSU; he'll have some average seasons, maybe a good one here or there, but he'll get fired from LSU within 6 years IMO.

While this is true, it's the exception. 5 star players are usually a lot more successful than 3 star players. And there are a lot of 3-star players out there who will say anything to get to a top program.

Some 5 star players will make it to the NFL on talent alone.

Of course not. But in general stars matter very much. You would think after Mullen you would have learned that. Evaluating and finding diamonds in the rough is important. But the teams with the most highly rated players have better depth, and a larger margin for error when players don’t work out. Florida should never have a problem recruiting the best players. Starting your tenure saying stars don’t matter wold puts me off.

Riley/Freeman/Venables

Oregon talking to an NFL coach could mean either Rhule or even bigger, Meyer. Wouldn't that be something? Two years of USC wishing they got Urban Meyer, then get a surprise "Big" hire in Lincoln Riley, only for Oregon to snab Urban? Would be so fitting

Is Miami a big school?

lol @USC wishing for Urban Meyer.

For two years USC wanted Urban. Don't try to erase memory

Wrong. USC never even interviewed him or seriously considered him because of all of the bs (much of it his own doing) that surrounds him. He creates embarrassing controversies everywhere he goes. USC's President squashed any thoughts of going after Meyer when she was first hired and his name was mentioned.

Urban Meyer is a college football wish list. Any program would take him that is a fact. If we are in the world of coaches hanging around for 3-4 years and bolting to another job, i'll take Urban Meyer's 4 years.

lol

Yeah, every school wants their head coach fingering co-ed buttholes in bars. That's always a good look for a schools football program.

That has already flamed out. The guy makes repeated mistakes but somehow, some way, it's forgotten within days to weeks and he's still #1 get. He built up Utah, he won a title at Florida (Which apparently is a lot harder then I ever thought), won a title at Ohio State. If he's interested, you offer him.

I would stop being a fan if we hired Meyer.
