A legit entry, or subbing in because the true contenders were sick?

You convinced me. Changing my vote to potato salad

The Air Raid has hurt USC's OL recruiting IMO. They have to get better on the offensive line and that may start by moving to a traditional offense.
Their O line recruiting was shitty before the Air Raid. SC always has and always will have better skill players in totality than any Pac 12 school.

USC cause, TV sets en sech.

That is total nonsense. Here are the # of top 100 prospects who were lineman that committed to USC during their run in the 2000s. I posted the # for other PAC teams so you could see the comparison.

2003:
USC - 2

2004:
USC - 2
Oregon - 1

2005:
None

2006:
USC - 1

2007:
USC - 2

2008:
USC - 3

2009:
USC - 2
UCLA - 1

Since USC went to the Air Raid:

2018:
Oregon - 1

2019:
Oregon - 1
UCLA - 1

2020:
Stanford - 1

2021:
Oregon - 2

Ok, so you cite recruiting classes when they were the entire Pac 12. Then you skipped over the classes that put them where they are at along with having what 4 different coaches. You can’t use the 2018 class because they weren’t air raid yet during recruiting period because Harrell was with us. The definitely need to upgrade their offensive line but don’t be naive and act like the winning the Pac 12 is predicated on who has the best offensive line.

I would like to see the numbers for the sanction years. Not fond of the star rating system but the gap is missing for comparison. SC did have an Offensive lineman go in the first rd last year. And AVT most likely goes in the first rd of the draft this year. Also going to be curious to see what McGuire does with the Oline next season. He has been vocal about the run game and putting the QB under center more unlike Harrell.

Where does USC want to be? When they were dominating under PC? Or the probation years? Or the Sark years while he was drinking on the job? Of course USC wants to replicate the PC years. During those years, they recruited lots of elite talent at the OL, despite your claim of the opposite.

You made a dumb comment about USC's OL recruiting being shitty. When USC was at their best, they recruited the offensive line extremely well. And if you watched the PAC 12 CG, you would have seen that USC lost the game almost entirely because their O-Line got beat all day. If their line could have blocked Oregon up front, at all, they probably win easy. So yes, having a good O-Line definitely matters when it comes to winning a championship.

The numbers slow down a little bit but they were still recruiting multiple lineman who were considered top 100 prospects nationally. Then they make the move to the Air Raid and it's nada

Based on where these programs are next season, I don't see how anyone can possibly pretend like Oregon will beat USC to the CFP.
you mean where Oregon has beat USC a couple years in a row including for the Pac 12 title?
or where Oregon has had higher ranked recruiting classes going on 3 years now?
