Who will replace Roy

Just hire Nate Oates already.
That's what the rumor is on message boards. UNC is one of the, if not THE top jobs for CBB but people forget how much Roy saved them when he left KU. They put on the full press on him with Dean Smith and other former players telling him it was time to comeback home.

So I don't necessarily agree with the it's UNC job and they can hand pick who they want and it will be over.

Seems like UNC is really insisting that they keep it "in the family". That means it's probably Hubert Davis or Wes Miller.

Supposedly Jay Wright reached out and is interested. But that may all be rumor to get an extended contract. Who knows? Oats is said to be a no-go.

My guess is Hubert Davis.

Anyone who thinks their team's coach wouldn't think hard about taking the UNC job is being naive.

Unless your coach is Coach K or Tom Izzo.

Wright would actually be perfect for the job, but I don't think they will offer it to him. If they do, I'd think there's a good, not slam dunk, chance he leaves.

It's still one of the, if not the top jobs in CBB.. but I think it takes the right type of coach to succeed there, and I think most are hesitant

no, it takes a guy that isn't a total idiot like Doherty or a lifelong assistant like Gut. Even with that, Gut took UNC to two FFs in three years and UNC won a natty two years after canning Doherty.

sounds like it's going to be Hubert Davis. Davis doesn't deserve the job, but with the way UNC operates he has to be considered the frontrunner.

Why doesn't he deserve the job?

zero HC experience + was never Roy's top assistant. Davis would be a good candidate for UNCG, not the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

so... don't hire an idiot? Again Roy saved them.. Lets see who they get now

If Jay Wright really wants it then that's a no brainer.

Nate Oats would be the next best pick.

Like he's not leaving Nova or like "I'm Nick Saban and I'm not going to be coaching Alabama" type of he's not leaving Nova?

Jay Wright is from PA, Nova has deep pockets and he can win titles at Villanova. I don’t see why he would leave

The reason I can think of is it represents a new challenge because he's already won at Nova. And UNC has unlimited pockets and resources.

Of course, the landscape of college basketball has changed. If Texas Tech, UVA, Gonzaga, and Baylor can win a title, then almost any major program can win given the right circumstances.

I'm glad he's staying tho.

I guess. I feel like if he want a new challenge, he will test his luck in the NBA

probably means they're hiring Hubert Davis

this is the pick the rest of the ACC wanted UNC to make
