Who wins 9 or more and why... or why not?

I think Texas gets to 9 if they win a bowl game. KSU seems to be everyone's favorite right now, but I don't see them doing better than what they did a year ago. They plan on using Martinez to run the ball more than throw it.. defenses are going to figure it out.

As for the arm chair QB evaluator on Quinn.. You can bash him for his handoffs at tosu last season but if you are going by his soph and jr high school games.. he's the real deal. He put on shows vs the best defenses in 6A football.. even when they got eliminated by Duncanville (soph) and by Westlake (jr) in the playoffs. Go look at Elite 11 champion Arnold vs Westlake last season, he STRUGGLED.
Agree on the bowl win, I was thinking more along regular season but you are 100% correct, throw a bowl win in there and a few more of these teams may get to that 9 win mark.
I may be in the minority but I think Texas has a shot to be pretty good and maybe make a run at the Big12 TBH. I like the WR and RB, the QB1 is a toss up could be strong.

I think there are some surprise teams in that group, just not sure who to put the money on.

Gut feel.. USC, OU, FSU, Texas, may have things in line enough to go 9/ 9+

The football gods kinda owe Nebraska some close games and they are desperate, maybe this is a good year for them,
LSU still has talent and Kelly imo is a better coach that Miles or Big Ed but like ya say, that schedule..

SC has a very favorable schedule. IF they can't pull out 9 wins from that line-up, we'll deserve to be in DEEP doo-doo...

USC 2022 Schedule

Rice
Stanford
Fresno St
Oregon St
Arizona St
Washington St
Utah
Arizona
Cal
Colorado
UCLA
Notre Dame

:drink:

Yes -- SC had better get to 9 wins too. That is a really soft schedule.

I get that USC has had a coaching change and some player movement (not always a good thing)
but coming off 4 wins
Rice W
Stanford beat USC 42-28 ?
Fresno was a 10 win team who took Oregon to the wire and beat UCLA L
Oregon State beat USC 45-27 L
Arizona State beat USC 31-16 but I think AZst's off season flips this W
WSU W last year but WSU was also a different team in the back half once all the coaching drama was over ?
Utah beat USC 42-26 L
Arizona should be a W
Cal beat USC 24-14 but I still think W
Colorado W
UCLA beat USC 62-33 L
Notre Dame beat USC 31-16 L

I see 5-5 and 2 ? so even if they get those 7-5
lets give them some confidence and say they win one of the L like Oregon State and then maybe a bowl to get to 9 but thats all circumstances hitting just right

I don't care where a guy played football in high school and how a guy fared -- it is still going to be a shock facing D1 college defenses for QB's the first time and the defenses will be LIGHT YEARS better and more complex than anything they faced in HS.

All these QB's have the arm talent and athleticism, obviously some with alot more than others -- that is what got them a D1 scholarship. They have to have it between the ears, that football IQ and the ability to slow the game down. Those are the guys that are successful.

What have ya heard on John Emery? He supposed to be a stud if he gets his head on straight, correct?
To be honest, nothing. Don't keep up with much on single players right now. However, I noticed the time of year, we are what, 2 to 2 1/2 weeks from the start of fall practice. Time to start to paying closer attention. Players come and go, now faster than ever, but it's time to look closer

isn't that like all QBs in college? or is this a Quinn thing?

New coaches always seem to drop a game or two that they should win just off not having full control over team or team not understanding system yet.

It is every QB, but I mentioned Quinn, because you seemed to think it mattered that he tore it up in a high school game when he was 15 and 16.

Quinn has all the talent you need, but it is yet to be seen if he has it between the ears, with his decision making and be able to read a college defense.

he was 16 and 17 when he tore it up, i was responding to someone that said they didn't see anything that impressed on his tape.. which is weird. As far as between the ears, he left tosu.. which shows that he's smart lol

If the tape that impresses you is high school highlights -- every single D1 athlete would impress you then because they all dominated in HS. That's how they got D1 scholarships.

And I agree leaving OSU was a smart move, but it was most likely smart because he was buried on the depth chart and wasn't going to see the field. Does that mean he won't be really good? Absolutely not. He could be a stud. Until he steps on the field though and faces a college defense, no one really knows.

bro he tore it up vs a D1 defense at the spring game..

he's legit

If he tore up the spring game, where he can't be hit, he must be legit. Come on man. I think he can be elite, but talking him up using high school highlights and spring game isn't why. No one knows how he will do until he faces an actual defense who is blitzing him, disguising coverages and can actually hit him.

not only could they hit him, they blitzed him every play while having an extra defender in the secondary.. trial by fire and he ace'd it..

So as I'm listening to pods while I code this morning.. people expect KSU to be a real player and are picking them to win vs Texas.. then one of the guys says.. did you know Kstate hasn't beaten Texas since Charlie Strong??

4 of the last 5 have been coin flips though.

Interesting that K. State is 10-12 all-time vs tejas.
