Windy City Thursday

i can get the folk out, but that escapes me.
It’s not a deep cut, but it’s not a big one if you didn’t come from the time….or grow up with parents listening to it.

One more week for pnk to feel optimistic about college football.
I've marked OSU as an L for a long time, so not too worried.

I put the upset at about 5%
The closer than expected and therefore moral victory at about 60%
an easy but not exactly blow out win at about 30%
and a laugher at 5%

odds were made up just now with no real thought

A mistake to put BWW Mango Habanero sauce on my hot dogs last night. I pay dearly this morning for such a miscalculation.

...or rather, you DID learn today

Morning all

Took my dad to dinner last night, went to a place near his house, was nice. There was a classic car show, so it was bit chaotic down there. On our way out, group of car enthusiasts took over one of the roads, ummm, the road isn't closed. I don't mind driving slow for a block, but you need to get the fuck out of the way

I was at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Museum on Tuesday. They had an exhibit of music history on Illinois. They had the original notepaper that Goodman wrote the lyrics on

He is one of my old time favorites. Song written in 1970. He recorded it in 1971.

Need to figure out where to watch it. Or just pony up for a streaming service this year.

I enjoyed my one visit...but it lacked the weirdness that I wanted to see there because of COVID.

not sure I'd go again though

got a lot of people on the streetsay "I bet I know where you got those shoes" trying to swindle some money out of tourists.

The best known version is by Arlo Guthrie, top 20 Billboard. Willie Nelson's version won 1985 Grammy for Best country-western . Song and train's name is City of New Orleans. " Good morning, America, how are ya" is the first line of the chorus.

i mean, i had a nice time down there when i went for mardi gras back in the day, but no desire to ever go back. it's nice to wake up anytime of day, walk out your door and go across the street to a bar and get a drink and some food. fuck, feel like all the places near me close around 10 that serve food, fucking maddening.

Probably not. It’s an old folk song.

Just showing some of my age this morning, I guess.
Was unloading some furniture with my son yesterday, had some tools to do it.

Started singing, "If I had a hammer..."

I don't think he's going to add it to our shared classics playlist.

I remember doing a "concert" back in grade school where we sung a lot of songs from that era. That was one of them.
