Winter starts on Thanksgiving, I don't care what the weather is.

That's the start of Christmas Season... Winter starts after the New Year.

I'm kind of relieved, I thought op was wanting to abolish winter, or make a year long winter, or add 2 seasons to the 4, or start baseball season in November with 10 batters per team and 12 fielders, along with cricket bats.

That would mean winter only lasts 10 days.

You say that like you haven't lived in Texas through a January yet, but you have.

If you are talking about the end of a year you call it winter. "Winter of 2021 was pretty warm". If you are talking about Jan-Mar of a year you call it "early [year]" as in "It was cold in early 2021".
