USA you mean? Supposed to be but since qualifying started they have had a fair amount of big injuries, COVID, COVID related disciplanary suspension, odd lineup choices, and weak road efforts at times. Examples:
1) Gio Reyna, maybe the best young player in the USA injured his hamstring in 1st game in September just returned recently and played against Mexico first time since that September. So basically played 1/2 of two games. IMO that was the biggest problem.
2) Best player Weston McKennie had COVID, then a COVID disciplinary suspension, and now a broken foot.
3) Christian Pulisic missed time earlier in qualification and then missed the big game on road in Panama where they lost because EPL players were not allowed to travel because it was a COVID hot spot. And then Berhalter put out a bizzare lineup in Panama too. McKennie COVID disciplanary suspension was this game too. I think he broke COVID policy by sneaking a chick in his hotel room. That got him suspended.
4) Brendan Aaronsonn torn knee ligaments.
5) Serginio Dest hamstring problems multiple games.
6) Other big loss on road in Canada. Completely uninspiring performance for whatever reason. Their worst game.
These are their 5 best players all playing on big teams in Europe other than Tyler Adams who has not missed time and has been a rock.
