Series Thread World Series: Braves vs. Astros

The side is just three outs. You do not need to retire all of them in order to retire the side, nor do you need to strike them out in order to have struck out the side
regardless of the definition, its still dumb as shit to say when the pitcher gave up two hits in the inning

Which is why announcers say “retired the side in order” or the such.

You're technically correct, but I don't like it. "Well, he gave up 7 runs that inning, but he struck out the side"

Tucker is just annoying

Yeah, but they didn't score that inning

Again, they stranded two runners that inning.

Geeze, look at you jerks, making me defend Joe Buck... :L

This is retiring the side. To STRIKE OUT the side means no runner reaches. In this case today, two runners reached in the inning meaning the pitcher cannot have striked out the side.

Another infield hit

LOL...

Let us get some of them bullshit hits!!

How many times are we gonna be burned by the shift this postseason before we just play straight up? Should be an easy double play, but instead it's 1st and 3rd with one out. Nevermind, a run just scored and it's first and second with 1 out and 1 in. Play normal defense and the offense is back up again. Burned us time and time again against the Dodgers, but we don't learn. This isn't the Phillies, these are smart batters we're facing.

The Astros are good enough to just poke it the other way and exploit the shift

He got three strikeouts, it does not matter that they sandwiched two hits in between.

The definition you posted didn't even make sense

I know, to me the side is every batter that inning even if that isn't technically correct.

Max in trouble... Leave him in 1 more inning

Fucking disaster. When Maldonado is getting hits you know we are fucked

We deserve every fucking bit of this. Could have all been avoided by simply not having a stupid shift. Cause and effect. Big inning.

Damn man looking like a little league team out there
