I lived on the 22nd floor when I was in Germany. It took some time to get used to standing on the balcony, but after I was there a week, it was nothing. I guess we can get used to those things. But it isn't normal.
 
Only a few 100k people have jumped from an airplane 2&1/2 miles up. Fewer have jumped from higher altitudes. I’ve deployed my parachute as low as 2500’ above ground level. That’s scary enough. Usually, I deployed at 3500’ agl. One’s sense of height is largely absent at the lip of a jump plane door 2&1/2 miles up. The closer you get to the ground, the more it returns. Climbing out to do a hop ‘n’ pop at 2500’ is scarier than climbing out 2&1/2 miles up.
 
I pack my chute differently for a hop ‘n’ pop than for a higher altitude jump. For a hop ‘n’ pop, you release your canopy directly after leaving the plane. Packed loosely, it should be open and be flyable in ~500’, putting you under canopy at ~2000’. When jumping from a higher altitude and freefalling, you reach terminal velocity and pack your canopy for a ~700’ snivel, allowing you to slow down and reducing canopy shock. At terminal velocity, a fast opening can break your back or your neck.
 
I just can't fathom voluntarily jumping out of a perfectly good, working airplane at 10,000 feet... :drink:

Helicopter or parachute. Back in my crazy daze, I vase jumped at 600 ft. Trust(but verify) your equipment.
 
As a Pole, they're gonna have to send at least one other person up there with me.

2500'?? Sheeeeeeyit, I've done static-line jumps under 1000', hitting the ground in the blink of an eye. Not fun.
