Got wild plums up the yingyang right now. Sweet corn is done. Hazelnuts and dove season coming up. Lean times for this hunter-gatherer.

We did about twenty quarts of green beans yesterday. And made I don’t even know how many pints and quarts of dill pickles. Enough that the house smells like a pickle still.

Been looking for chicken of the woods, chanterelles and black trumpets. But evidently not hard enough.

Will be a long week of sweet corn. (Mostly freezer bags). Last week was raspberry and strawberry jam. Still waiting on tomatoes. Haven’t even fried up a green one yet.

I have pulled back on the size of the garden this year. No canning except a little frozen sweet corn. Concentrating on cash crops.

still a decent cheap quick burrito. chips and soda is just empty calories that cold be better served with some gin.

That cash crop is so cheap here now, I didn’t even bother this year.

Yet we’re talking about canning potatoes. Which seems way not worth it, but whatever is left in the field after harvest is free. And we’ve never done it before.

Not so much here. Hard to get a decent potato crop here. Too much clay in the soil. And we eat baby taters for snacks.

We have a lot low lying black sand and sandy hilltops for potato fields. Mostly reds.

I don’t bother trying in my garden.

not all restaurants are created equal. went to some nice places on vacation last month and shit was fucking fantastic.
