Y no Monday thread?

From an appraisal standpoint, there are two types of basement: walk-up or walk-out. A walk-up is typically where the whole basement is below grade and you have to go up to get out. There may be small windows at the top or window wells for bedrooms. A walk-out is typically when the home is built into a grade and the front part of the lower level is below grade and the rear is at grade and you can walk out. From a functional utility standpoint, walk-out is more like another finished level, whereas walk-up is less desirable.
When there's a fire those walk up basements better be walk out as well.

That’s what the window wells are for.
When they got 'em.

I had nightmares about my daughter/SIL's last college place. Downstairs basement appt, a few tiny windows about a one-by-three and 6 feet off the floor.

ask her if it's duck duck grey duck or duck duck goose and I'll be able to determine if she's truly a minnesotan
I’ll have to ask her. She’s not a native Minnesotan, but she has lived there for 40 years. That may explain her superior knowledge of basement terminology.

Most places, that’s not legal.

we were talking about my specific area/house therefore a basement is automatic ;) be different if you were discussing with someoen in an area where basements arent commom you also failed to notice i never once said teh entire house was 1 level ;)
Do you have something in your eye?

@RoyMunson @kobesgame and myself all post much less.

I'm being forced to work more
Life, man. Was crazy backed up at work after my brother died/his funeral. So busy with work, dealing with my damn stalker situation, and got out of town for a few days. Might pick it up later, but frankly, I'd prefer 4-5 pages of threads than 20.

Pretty decent weekend. Had our "practice match" wrestling on Friday at the alma mater where Grand wrestled for the 1st time to prep for his exhibition match Sunday. Saturday we had to bring the 2 dairy beef steers to 4H grounds for weigh in & then for beef & starter calf workshop. Not sure when starter calves & pigs have weigh-ins. Sunday our wrestling club I coach hosted a dual tournament with 3 teams. We finished runner-up to my alma mater. They were a late add to replace a team we definitely could have beaten. I was ok with losing to the alma mater as I coach them in football and Buck wrestles on Mondays with them during the season. They told me I now have to help them coach at their practices. That's fine with Grand going to school their next year. Grand won his match Sunday & Buck went 2-1 losing against my alma mater. I put him and his 2 buddies against studs. Their losses were the difference in the score.

I had a cool weekend. Managed to talk the wife into picking up a months worth of frozen dog shit out of the back yard. She acted like she didn’t care so I told her she could do it for now on. So I need to go pick up dog shit tomorrow.

I'm sure it's different in basement/non basement states.

MN basements are pretty common too an none of us really consider them a "level" even though my basement is finished
id have to measure the space that isnt finished but im guessing my basement is around 95% finished just 3 rooms that arent "finished" the furnace water heater room, the storage and under stairs room. then the sump pump radon water main room. all 3 have epoxy floors but only 1 has any drywall in it because its attached to the office

Now you know why us old guys prefer ranch style houses.

i currently live in a two story house but I’m building a one story with a casita. It just passed all the major inspections (elec, plumbing, hvac). My builder is tight with the inspector so even though I’ve got a lot more to do I’m good until the final inspection. They just put up all the drywall last week. They are now going over all the joints and nail holes with mud. Still shooting for august certificate of occupancy
