Top 5 wuss rock bands

Fair enough. I've always hated labels because they're so subjective.
You could simplify it with the Townes Van Zandt way of thinking. “There’s only two kinds of music, the blues and zip a di do dah”

Wuss ROCK. The Archies and David Cassady were clearly pop

Yet you place the beatles in your group of rock artist. Massive fail. Luv luv me do must rock your world then. What about Penny Lane?

The Beatles were the Backstreet Boys of the 60’s for sure, but these unenlightened morons flips their shit when you label the Beatles as nothing but bubble gum pop. George Harrison was the only member worth remembering

btw @Illustrious Potentate ...just busing your chops. I like a lot of different music so I get told every day about how this or that group sucks balls even though they own jets and fancy cars from all that sucking.

meh...they are just so old. In the 60's, there were so many forces pulling music, all looking for the payday. You still had the Rat Pack and the big band era, CW was probably the number 1 seller in records, and we had Rock n Roll, Elvis Presley style and we had POP or bubble gum music, then we had Rock which was in a transition ... some of those groups in your list like REO, The beatles and Styx where the groups that moved towards harder and more talented pieces.

Riding the Storm out was a monster rock song for its day. It might be a bit pedestrian today, but dude, those boys rocked that shit back then.

Age isn’t an excuse. Mama Tried is still a standard

Most people are stupid. Being popular =\= being good

Most people want something they can dance to. Which is why pop does as well as it does. The most talented today are out there stretching strings and putting sounds together that just light up the senses. But there is no dancing or twerking to it. So it doesn't sell as well. The talent is obvious though.

But really to me, music isn't about the dancing or the pulling of strings or the most thought provoking lyrics. Even though I migrate towards Rock because of the thought provoking lyrics and the beating up of a musical instrument like only rockers do.

Music is about making people happy in their thoughts. I've jammed to sugar sugar. And I've dove into the deepest parts of Pink Floyds lyrics. It's all a mood and not everyday is the same.

That list of yours contains some serious musicians from that time.

No doubt Journey is at the top of that list........they are 100% chick music....they are not rockers....

Queen.....just plain downright yuck.....

Queen put on one of the best performances I've ever seen. It may be the best live performance I've seen. Other than a couple of songs, I never liked much of their stuff. But then I saw them live and man...it was on.

I saw them on this tour around 83ish ...

Take the L outta Loverboy and it's over, boy!
Can you believe in 1982 I went to a Day On The Green in Oakland Coliseum and the bands there were Scorpions, Iron Maiden.....and those wusses Loverboy?

Many bands goes wuss once they get successful or lazy maybe? How many would call Van Halen great with Roth and Van Hagar wuss? I would.

I agree Chicago went wuss but there is enough there not to be wuss today. This is why Handrix thought Kath was better than him. Wild solo here live. This is my favorite Chicago song.

I am going to get controversial here: Metallica went wuss in the 90's. Putting out absolutely attrocious crap beginning with Load. Kill Em All great, Lightning and Puppets legendary, Justice good but Lars totally fucked up production, and finally Black Album a head scratcher for (no uptempo stuff at all on this). Hell they even played with SF Symphony. That is wuss. So basically 1983 to 1988 Metallica was a decent band and maybe the most overrated band ever after that.

Agreed.

I will fight you over Styx and Speedwagon

Lots of bands have "gone wuss," like Dr. Hook. Once they got away from Shel Silverstein's lyrics they were awful.

Lars is the biggest wuss of them all. I think they lived off some of the Mustaine songs early on and pretty much died after Justice. Wonder what Metallica would have been if Mustaine stayed and no Megadeth.

Even Megadeth went some wuss in late 90's with that pile of shit Risk but went heavy again not long after. I loved Chris Broderick when they brought him in in recent years. Megadeth has more good albums than Metallica but no great ones like Puppets and Lightning although Rust In Peace one of my all time favorites.

Megadeth has the better catalog fosho. Metallica's first 3/4 are fire, but I listen to Megadeth way more often.

I've really like their last few. Dystopia was great.
