Oh, there's a fuckton added to canned vegetable, but sometimes it's added to frozen, too, or at least used to be for some brands.
This was over 20 years ago, so it may have changed.
Selma. There is no debate.
You know what ese is added to a lot of foods? Sugar. Often the labels will read "5 grams total sugar" and then "5 grams ADDED sugar." The item didn't have any at all, and then they went and added some.Oh, there's a fuckton added to canned vegetable, but sometimes it's added to frozen, too, or at least used to be for some brands.

Did someone mention they have sugar? You know what ese is added to a lot of foods? Sugar. Often the labels will read "5 grams total sugar" and then "5 grams ADDED sugar." The item didn't have any at all, and then they went and added some.
It's like they don't believe we'll eat something that doesn't taste like sugar

You make a good point.... it's almost my Bourbon & Coke season. Bulleit bourbon and Mexican Coca-Cola. Me gusto.I don't really read labels for sugar content, so I hadn't noticed that.
I mean, I know there's tons of added sugar to things like canned fruit (I remember that from being a kid), but outside fruit in heavy syrup, I hadn't even thought about it.
Then again, sugar isn't something I try to really avoid. I eat a lot of sweets (it's the fastest way to get extra calories, and I often need them). At the same time, I know a lot of people get a ton of sugar every day from drinking cokes, or whatever, and I virtually never drink soft drinks ... don't even have them in my house (every once in a while, I'll buy a bottle of Mexican Coke, but really, that's only, like, once every month or two).
I don't go out of my way to avoid sugar - because I struggle to get enough calories during the day, but I do try and maintain a ratio of around 40:30:30 of carbs to protein to fat, or 35:35:30.I don't really read labels for sugar content, so I hadn't noticed that.

I've been cutting out sugar for the past couple of years. At first it was "avoid sodas and juices, no sugar in my coffee, no more lucky charms" etc. But then when I started to do other diet changes and really began to look closely at labels, I was shocked at how much they add to things that you wouldn't think need any sugar at all.I don't really read labels for sugar content, so I hadn't noticed that.

Added sugar just represents empty carbs.
