I was traveling in FL many years ago on business (Tampa/Madeira Beach area) and it was bumper to bumper traffic to get to the interstate. (There was construction or an accident). I was worried I was gonna be late for my meeting so I was looking for an alternate route but the neverlost navigation in my hertz rental car wasn’t giving me one. I pulled up to this guy who was towing a boat. I figured he had to be local so I pull up beside him and ask him “is there an alternate route to the interstate”. He looks over at me and I can see his eyes are all glassy and as soon as he talks I can tell he’s shitfaced. Btw, it was about 7:30 in the morning. He says “no. This road is it”. I asked him “how many miles to the interstate?” He sighs and says “it’s about 5-6 miles but in this traffic it’s probably about 20 miles.” 
I just said “thanks a lot” and we gave each other a wave.
