2022 Season Thread

Good for Suarez and good for Trackhouse. Justin Marks and Pitbull have thoroughly dragged their nutsacks across Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan’s faces when it comes to starting a new team

Hard not to be. 23XI stole the headlines last year, though Suarez outperformed Bubba Wallace throughout the season as a whole, Bubba's rain shortened plate track win notwithstanding. Both expanded to two cars this year, 23X1 made a very smart move in adding Kurt Busch, but Trackhouse has outperformed them again. Both their drivers have wins and have been competitive every week.

The reason Clint Bowyer wasn't in the booth for the Fox finale last week was apparently, he accidentally ran over a killed a meth head on an interstate off ramp in Kansas. From the sound of it, Clint pulled over immediately and called 911, fully cooperated and had no drugs or alcohol in his system. Not enough info yet. Don't know if the lady(who did have meth on her) was walking up the ramp or walked out in front of Clint's vehicle.

There was no intent, and the lady probably shouldn't have been on an off ramp, but you know that will still haunt Clint.

Wow

Castroneves wins, wasn't even supposed to be there. Supposedly now will get a ride for the Daytona 500.

Edit, it doesn't say for the 500, just a ride at Daytona. I just assumed.

Had to record the SRX race. Looked pretty good. I've been to a couple Snowball Derbies at that track.

FFS, what's next?

There’s been rumors of a Chicago street course for years. I think it’s dumb.

Street courses are a logistical nightmare, and there’s not many places you could go that would lead to good stock car racing. Street courses (debatably) work in F1, but even then, most of them are some of the worst races of the season(looking at you, Monaco)

Street courses aren’t entirely foreign concepts in NASCAR. The old Daytona road course was ran partially on the streets and partially on the beach, but the cars and times are different now.

NASCAR might get a decent ROI the first time because of the novelty and curiosity, but I don’t think it’ll be a success in the long run

Bulletproof glass, and bodyguards.

There have been two tracks built in the Chicago market. The first didn’t last 3 years and I’m not sure if a division higher than the Truck series ever raced on it and the other is about to be turned into an industrial park after less than 20 years on the Cup schedule despite being one of the better mile and a half tracks out there.

Maybe the Chicago market just isn’t for NASCAR

I like the idea of a street course, at least to try it and see. Just like Bristol dirt. One time is fine. I don't like the fact that it sounds like the Chicago street course will replace Road America on the schedule for 2023. Pull it from Kansas or Richmond.

All I want is one God damn Cup race at Bowman Gray and we’re getting a Chicago street course instead

Bruton Smith died today. His company owns and built most of the tracks on the schedule. Not many had a bigger impact on American motorsports, some good, some bad(Trading North Wilkesboro for Texas)

Watched the SRX race at South Boston (VA) tonight. Ryan Hunter Reay is gonna get his ass kicked before the season ends.

Dammit, I forgot about it. Got to see if I can find a replay.

I was at a party last night, but forgot to record it. For a series that has all of its races shown on CBS, they need a lot more marketing.

I see Stewart still has a shitty attitude. Unless it happened somewhere else. The replay they showed wasnt shit. Many other drivers got bounced around & didnt lose their shit.
Noticed Castroneves is liking using the bumper. Hell even in the straightaways. Hunter Reay I think, he thinks it is just bumper cars out there LOL Hes like fuck it. I dont have to pay for these cars. He wont ever have to worry about finishing last. He'll always finish ahead of those he DNF'd :heh:
