tOfficial Amazon Thread

Yeah, I have my house full of Alexa devices and gave the keys to Amazon and the local police. I feel so safe now knowing they're watching, listening and protecting. I also installed the app on my phone and granted it access to the camera and microphone for bonus protection.

I stopped pretendng I'm going to do this. They got me. I hate it but I realize now I'm not going to cut my nose off to spite my face.

Also, inb4 someone who accuses me of being obsessed with Bitcoin brings up Bitcoin.
I got hooked on the FREE shipping and 2 day (usually) delivery I get in my area. I just HATE going to stores... ALWAYS have! I buy enough stuff every month to justify it.

$15 won't buy me more than a couple beers which I'm just gonna "piss away" anyway. :heh:

But NONE of that Alexa/Ring stuff for me either! :headbanger:

A) it doesnt require a single "Amazon" device. B) you dont give them "keys"

you get a enabled garage door opener by Chamberlain or you buy the MyQ add on by Chamberlain and you set it up once in an app (i have it on a non personal phone that is used for things like this) and connect it to a non personal network (guest or separate that doesnt allow local network access just internet) and the delivery driver opens it when they scan the package and it closes when they are done. You can also use a security camera (of your choice) to monitor it if you like and keep them honest. Keep your main house door locked and leave the garage setup so you can get packages....

This also works with cable TV service, internet service, phone carriers....
Cable/Internet, not so much anymore. MOST people only have ONE choice for cable and Internet service. They know you can't go anywhere else unless you move. Not saying they won't give a bit of a discount, but it WON'T likely be worth much.

At least with the cell phone carriers, most people have more than one choice. EVEN here in the U.S.

I had read/heard that on the 5th they announced plans to purchase iRobot but multi-billion dollar deals take time. Also heard their own competing product (around 1k each unit) had great abilities to map and hear and see and react but failed at actually cleaning lol. Much like Microsoft acquiring Activision, that deal will take the better part of a year to check every box and jump through every legal hoop

regardless, it's very likely happening.

sorry if I wasn't 100% accurate

or for sure it is likely happening i was just curious if they managed to actually move that quickly since the news came about on the 5th if they managed to get it done over the weekend that would have been blazing fast and relatively unheard of

The DOJ AntiTrust Unit is most likely "gearing up" right about now...

Exactly, they are involved in these large acquisitions regardless of the look, when the big boys make any moves they gotta bring the whole legal team
