1/3 is the B1G move. 1/3 is the invent of social media and the internet making recruiting way easier for elite programs. 1/3 is having no instate talent and every other program making strength and conditioning a priority, including the high school level.
Scott Frost was a home run hire for Nebraska. He was the best case scenario for them. I think after watching his demise it is sinking in to their fan base that the days of being elite are long gone and won't be coming back.
It is no different than Harbaugh at UM. He was the best case scenario, home run hire. Like Nebraska, UM fans like to think they are among the elite programs. Reality is -- we are a 2nd tier program and will continued to that, as we cannot and will never be able to recruit like OSU in the current landscape of CFB.

Nebraska's days of being elite are done. If you don't have any elite in state talent or a state surrounding you with elite talent you can grab every year -- You aren't competing with elite programs in today's CFB. Michigan and Notre Dame will pull in the occasional top 5 class if their happens to be alot elite recruits whose parents put an emphasis on academics. That is why Michigan signed guys like Jabril Peppers, Rashan Gary, Daxton Hill, Donovan Peoples-Jones.
