TV Series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

Gonna watch tonight but not expecting much to be revealed. Maybe we find some stuff out in season two
They’ve got to have some kind of payoff this season. If the whole season is just to setup the world and bring nothing to conclusion then it will piss a lot of people off. Amazon spent a billion on this series and they absolutely have to keep people involved.

How long is it going to be between seasons anyway? Please tell me they filmed a lot of this concurrently and it’s going to come out like clockwork. I can’t stand some of these two year delays.

At my sister-in-law's place in Utah. She doesn't have HBO so no House of the Dragon. But she does have Prime.

So I've been binge watching this and Wheel of Time. As someone who's only read the Hobbit and LOTR books and none of WOT, I've found both shows entertaining enough, having little to no expectations of following source material.

Crap, I just looked it up, and they JUST NOW started filming season 2. It's going to be at least 18 months, probably 2 years, before the next installment.

I haven't been watching Rings of Power.
What?!

Whoa, I just saw the newest episode is the finale? What are there only 9 episodes per season? That's odd

I guess they don’t care about a return on their billion dollars. If I was putting out that kind of cash I would’ve filmed all 5 seasons back to back in one go around.

They said covid messed up with filming season one, but that shouldn't be an issue any longer. 2 years is a long time between episodes

I'm not sure who hasn't and has watched the last episode...but it was great. I have nothing but good things to say about the Rings of Power.

Galadriel is just like a Barbie doll. She carries the same expression throughout the entire show.

But she's hot so it doesn't matter.

If you accept the fact beforehand it's going to do a lot of canon disregarding it was acceptable. Didn't mess with the lore too much and even when it did it felt like trying to jam things that happened over thousands of years into a short time (which whatever its understandable why to make it work for TV). Not my favorite series ever but enough to make me look forward to the next episode every week.

It was much better than Cats, I plan to see it again and again.

That was a pretty good finale. Someone here hit it on the head who would end up being Sauron a couple weeks back.

I read an article that said they are fast-tracking the next season as quickly as they can. They won't sacrifice quality but they realize they need to put out seasons on a regular basis and they are committed to 5 no matter what.

Another interesting fact I picked up in one of the articles I saw is that the "stranger' wizard is Gandalf. The clue was at the very end when he said "always follow your nose" which is supposedly a classic Gandalf line. So right now we know all the players that have been introduced including Sauron and Gandalf.

I feel ok about where this is heading, especially since its a 5-year journey (writers say they already know what the last scene is) and they ended the season well.

That's definitely good news. I might be dead in 2 years, I can't be waiting around for TV shows to finish production.

I haven't even watched the last episode but it's already been completely spoiled for me. If the mystery wizard is Gandalf then they're monkeying with the stories we already have about the origins of the Wizards...and they've definitely taken some liberties with Sauron's arc...but none of that ruins the enjoyment of the series for me. I wanna see how this things turns out.
