TV Series Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon

next episode is the finale, right?

agree...the important part is that she escaped back to Dragonstone.

they didn't need to put her in the domed building if she can get out of the Dragonpit without it.
And that’s the gripe most I’ve talked to saw.

Honestly, I shrugged at it in the moment. I shrugged because it made no sense, but I don’t to start thinking it’s going the way of the end of GoT.

I’m still not mad about it. It’s a show. But, I can be honest and say that was weak and no one behind that decision has made a viable explanation.

Though….I will give them the chance to explain more in future episode dialogue.

the drama leading up to her maybe burning them up was pretty good though...I was expecting her to yell "dracarys"

That character has passed up striking first this whole season. Come on, now.

We both agree the scene was poorly done and illogical on its whole, but she would be the type to see a head of house hanging and decide she needs to make calculated steps.

To be calculated is to just leave. You can always say “I could have rained down on you but didn’t”. But that’s not what they did having her bust through the floor and slaughter dozens just to stare them down.
That's interesting when do you think she should have stuck? I can't remember a time she was actually threatened by anyone.

I'm starting to think you are getting Rheanys and Rhaenyra confused....

I just remember we were in the writers room one day, and I was like: it would be awesome if Larys came at the sight of Alicent's feet

she should have just escaped with the dragon instead of smashing through a bunch of peasants to show off how she was escaping.

I don't think she wanted to commit regicide and kill the entire family...that is generally frowned upon and would have definitely led to worse things than the possibility they have a civil war...so don't say "she could have ended it all before it even began" because, no, she couldn't have. She would have made things worse.

and Larys, while we know what he is in his role, needed to be brought down on his depravity, IMO. That scene will stand out in a "ok, this dude is sneaky but he's also a freak." As for the queen, it comes off as a gotta do what I gotta do kind of thing.
Worse things?

Otto Hightower just stole the crown from her family.

What is worse for a royal?

kin-slaying

it would have resulted in chaos

Chaos is already at hand.

The throne has been usurped. The head of kings gaurd is still hanging in the holdfast. A small council member has his head bashed in by the head. And a rapist loser is on the throne.

the chaos is currently contained because the commoners don't know what is going on behind the scenes...they know the King is dead and that he named Aegon to be crowned in his death.

if Rhaenys torches everyone, they are like "wtf we have no king" and shit goes off and Rhaenys is to blame without any real context.

that wasn't the head of the Kingsguard hanging there, was it? That was the other bald dude who tried to escape Kings Landing (Redwyne?)

Westerling is still alive, I believe.

We are literally talking about a universe where a guy raped his sister at the funeral of their child in front of the coffin, they file kids' teeth down and make them fight each other like pit bulls and cut penises off at the drop of a hat and you think 'kin-slaying" is a horrible offense.

It's weird that you don't realize GOT has a very messed-up sense of morality that doesn't play in rational thought.

I am well aware of all that.

I am not at all sure what point you are trying to make

Nobody cares what peasants think. They’re barely even people.

I imagine the king cares
Doubtful.

He doesn’t even care about his own wife/sister.

Who I’m sure is going to flip teams at some point. She hates her husband/brother and looks to be hating her mother as well.

It's not like the people love the King. This is very much modeled after the middle ages where a King is someone that has to endured and they give a rat's ass who it is as long as it doesn't make their life more difficult.

You are inventing situational issues to fit the narrative you want to believe that do not exist. If she fries the Greens this shit is pretty much over because the other houses will fold like cards and the peasants don't care if they do the new King can just schedule games and a feast to appease them.

The real threat is two houses with dragons going nuclear but if you eliminate one of those houses no one else is going to screw with the only house with dragons that is left.

The new King literally doesn't want to rule and offered to run away.

Again stop inventing narratives that don't exist.

well...yea, I am. Because this is all fictional and all based on what Martin wrote and this world he built.

the character of Rhaenys would not torch them...it's not her way of it, especially after Alicent talked to her. I don't think she has any ill will towards Alicent and her family...but isn't aligned with them usurping the throne like this.
