Need to go to the SEC or B1G

It can be a little bit of both, completely one, or completely the other
I think it has a lot to do with the defenses they are facing.

To put it in perspective -- Georgia had 15 players drafted to the NFL last year. The ENTIRE PAC CONFERENCE had 25 players drafted.

The B1G had 50 players drafted last year. The quality of play is much different. There is a reason the PAC and alot of times the Big 12 have been left out of the CFP.

Sometimes players just improve though. Otherwise, how do you explain someone like Joe Burrow.

Everyone said the same thing about Jalen Hurts too. "Oh look at the numbers he is putting up on the crap B12 defenses". Now look at the guy

Not to kick the PAC while they are down, but the conference, as a whole, has as much to do with the success of players like Nix at Oregon, like Penix Jr at Washington., like Charbonnet at UCLA (I'm sure i'm missing others) -- all these guys were average to below average players in the B1G and SEC.

Did they all of a sudden become stars after transferring to the PAC? Or are they simply playing against much worse defenses now?
I also think players want to play in good environments even bordering on absurd. Even the visitors and especially highly ranked visitors. When stands look like practice games it is a downer…even for the visitor. Even home teams don’t like i when stands are empty/unemotional. Some PAC games look very empty.

Jalen Hurts was putting up numbers in the SEC. He was the SEC offensive player of the year or something like that as a freshman.

And then got benched, transferred to Oklahoma and put up crazy numbers. Then all the comments started about sec and B12 defenses.

Like I said, sometimes it absolutely is true the player is thriving bc of competition, sometimes the new team is just a better fit for him, and sometimes the player just flat out got better

Another factor to consider is players around him as well. Jalen Hurds wasn't necessarily devoid of talented receivers our offense at both Alabama and Oklahoma.

I don't think the players for the smaller teams sometimes get as much credit when you factor the talent around them.

Very true. And sometimes I think NOT having as much talent around them is good preparation for them at the next level. It seems several good NFL QBs came from lower level P5 or G5 schools. They didn't have near the talent around them that their counterparts at the blue bloods did. Rodgers, Rothlensberger, Mahomes, Romo come to mind. I'd have to look up more.

Let's pick on the Bucknuts for example. In the history of the NFL, who has been the best QB from Ohio State? Hell, who has been the best one from Texas?

Again, if 4-5 QB's in the Pac are all putting up crazy numbers, none are doing something 'special' or unique.

You don't have to over think this.

This also might be why most Heisman are a bust at NFL level.

Another thing that I really HATE about the Heisman is when it is awarded. It needs to be AFTER the National Title game. So many times, a Heisman winner gets exposed in playoffs because he ran up his numbers against a weak conference and his team finally runs into a real opponent in Playoffs.

Many of the bigger matchups now happen after the Heisman is awarded.

This is going to cause some controversy but a great example of two Heisman candidates right now is JT Shroud and Hendon Hooker.

Take JT Shroud off Ohio State and they are still unbeaten.

Take Hendon Hooker off of Tennessee and I seriously doubt Tennessee is unbeaten or even in the top ten.

I would say Hendon Hooker has been far more impactful.

LOL @ the thought of Bo Pix being a Heisman contender. The dude sucks. Wish he would play UGA for 4 more years

I can't take you seriously if you are calling him JT Shroud

Ohio States history has never been very conducive to an NFL QB. If Ryan Day continues his trajectory I think you will see a successful NFL QB come out of Ohio State. Hell, Justin Fields still might be, but he could also be who he is at this point.

Ryan Day won’t be at OSU long. Jim Harbaugh OWNS Ryan Day, and that’s a quick ticket out of Columbus

Chicago and Justin Fields will get things straight and be alright. It just won't be this year

Not just you guys which is mind boggling to me. Seems several of the big names don't really churn out good QBs and they usually have "the pick of the litter" because of recruiting success. I guess the other talent around them doesn't make them have to "do it" for lack of a better term.

I'd venture a guess that most of the big names that have not were traditionally power running teams with great defenses

John Cooper would disagree. He lasted quite awhile being owned Michigan. Quickest way out of Columbus is scandal. Cover up for a douchebag assistant, cover up free tattoos, or challenge an opposing player to a boxing match

1995 Tommie Frazier would have won it over Eddie George.
