I've been gone a while and not sure if this has been talked about, though I suspect it has. I went like 5 pages back and saw nothing, so whatever.

Who are you all hoping for and/or who do you think is most likely?

Personally and I know it was talked about, but it needs to be a REAL thing. We need to go after Urban Meyer and offer him like a 3-5 year deal and tell him we want him to train up Mickey Joseph. Allow him to set things right for us, recruit, correct his name and go out on a high note.

Spare me the BS about his character as if we are actually above that given the state of our once great program. We need to win now and he is the best possible choice right now.

Arandas luster has rubbed off.

Campbell's luster has rubbed off.

Leipold is an interesting one, but what can he really do for recruiting and he is almost 60, how much time does he really stay coaching?

Rhule is interesting, but he got a big payday and we are likely not his first choice. He might wait, plus he is a Penn St guy. If Franklin dips for the NFL or gets fired, Rhule might up and leave there, especially if he is successful here, he would be a hot target for them.

Mickey Joseph... I like him, but I just don't see him as ready. We are not seeing a changed team. The team has gotten a little better, but we would also expect the team to get a little better throughout the year. We are still seeing a team that can't finish. Still seeing dumb mistakes. I hear all this talk about Joseph as a recruiter, but not really seeing it. I know he hasn't had a lot of time, but are we really willing to gamble on him learning the job as he goes and hoping for the best with minimal experience.... didn't we basically try that with Frost? Technically Frost actually made sense given he had actual HC experience and was relatively successful at the time. Sadly, from what I have been reading, up until the loss to Minnesota, Mickey Joseph was almost a sure thing.

As of now, I think Leipold and Rhule are most likely, and if Joseph can manage to take 2 of the next 3, he could get the job which obviously worries me though I would still prefer to win 2 of the next 3 lol.

The rumors about Patterson, Monken, OBrien, or Freeze don't make sense to me.

Freeze wouldn't be bad, but if you are willing to overlook his supposed character issues, you might as well overlook Meyers. Plus, didn't Freeze just take a big extention? Might be costly.

So who do you want and who do you think is most likely?

The last I heard was that Joseph was interested in the ASU job, so to put pressure on Nebraska.

That's been awhile, and I haven't heard any other names really.

Mark Stoops is your best option. His style at Kentucky would translate well to Nebraska and B1G West.

Yeah possibly, but to be honest, I'm not a big fan. Plus, I think he has a better gig for himself now. Why leave Kentucky when they have reasonable expectations about never really winning anything, but to be happy if they do or come close. Nebraska used to be what Alabama has been recently, once you get a taste for that, it's hard to settle. Look at Bama fans right now after losing their 2nd game in the regular season

Fans understand it might take time, but get us to a bowl and get better every year, then the expectation is to be playing for conference titles nearly every year with some playoffs sprinkled in. Obviously right now that sounds next to impossible.

I do believe that Stoops would get us to positive records and bowls, but he doesn't strike me as the coach that would take us to where the fans want to be (as mentioned above).

He does strike me as a prime candidate for the Iowa job though, whenever Ferentz retires

I think Nebraska needs to get away from a coach that pushes for a pass heavy offense. Nebraska has tried that several times now and it has been a disaster each time. I think Nebraska needs to get back to the style of play that made them successful.

So they need to go get Ferenz or Bielema, huh?

I think Stoops has done a good job at Kentucky and has elevated them over a few programs in the East. (At least for now) But ever since Louisville has gone done the shitter his OOC has been God awful. Add in Vandy and it’s an easy 5 wins. Mizzou and Scar haven’t been great lately and their crossover game is Miss State. Tennesee had been down and Florida seems down, yet this dude only won over 8 games twice in 10 years?

I think he is a good coach but his record is a product of that schedule and I definitely think Nebraska could do better.

Stoops just became the winningest coach in KY history so he ain’t going anywhere. He will get paid plenty of money, retire there after another decade and they will name the field after him.

The AD literally publicly called out the basketball coach for some comments he made about the football program earlier this year. Let that sink in. A KY AD took the side of a football coach over the basketball coach.

Stoops ain’t going anywhere.

I feel like it’s gonna be either Jeff Traylor, Jim Mora, or Matt Rhule. Maybe Hugh Freeze.

Meh on Dave Aranda, Matt Campbell sucks, and Urban Meyer is just toxic. And who the hell knows about the guy at CCar, Jim Lahey or what’s his face.

Other than Meyer/Saban type guys they're all a gamble.

I'd like to see Jamey Chadwell given a chance. He's 45 y/o and has 13 years HC experience.
He looks to be on his way to a 3rd double digit win season in a row.

He has a balanced offense this season, but his teams have had good rushing stats in years prior.
You have to run the ball to have success in the Big 10.

Coastal Carolina Rushing Offense

2021: 6th (5.84 YPC)
2020: 15th (5.06 YPC)
2019: 34th (4.51 YPC)

That's Jamey Chadwell.

His buddy Joe Moglia (former CEO of Omaha's TD Ameritrade) has pimped him for the Nebraska job.

Of course Neal Brown (Troy) looked like a pretty solid choice for WVU, but that hasn't panned out.

I think problems arise when a G5 HC brings his entire staff along (a la Frost) to P5. They want to share the wealth with their buddies that got them there. Trev needs to keep a rein on that.

Chadwell makes $900,000/yr at CC. Somebody should be able to get him at good value.

I thought about him too, I figured he was gonna be a sure thing for Georgia Tech.

If he gets to double digits again, someone's gonna give him a shot.

At 8-1, CC should get to 9-1 with a win over Southern Miss.

One more between Virginia, James Madison, and a bowl, will be double digits again.
