Next Nebraska Head Coach

@Red_Alert is Chadwell a team that coaches physicality? I think that maybe something that is needed right now in Lincoln.

Granted you would know Nebraska football far better than me.

Well you have to be physical to run the ball successfully, no? Hence me posting CC's rushing numbers.

Whomever takes the Nebraska HC gig has a lot of work to do in getting both the O and D lines up to par. The longer the game moves on the more they get pushed around upfront.

It's been that way since Pelini. Suh simply masked it on the D line the first couple years. They struggled with McNeese St in 2014.

Yeah, my thought is just the B1G West culture (especially with Iowa and Wisconsin) is to play physical defense and smash mouth offense. Purdue and Northwestern play a little different sometimes but they seem to be the exception.

The local recruits also tend to fit well with that playstyle as well. I get the vibe that Scott Frost's Nebraska teams came off as soft, especially on defense.

I feel like it’s gonna be either Jeff Traylor, Jim Mora, or Matt Rhule. Maybe Hugh Freeze.

Shit, wait, hang on. Forgot a few names.

Craig Bohl
Jay Norvell
Shawn Clark
Willie Taggart
Willie Fritz
Mike Houston
Troy Calhoun

I think that’s all of them.

Is that a result of lack of depth or poor strength and conditioning? Some teams that have that happen don't have enough "good" players to rotate properly.

Strength and Conditioning IMO

They got pushed around (in Lincoln) by Georgia Southern in the 4th Q.

It's Georgia Southern that would have had the limited travel roster and lack of depth.

1. Throw the works at him and Make Urban Meyer tell ya no.

2. If Urbs is a no go then go for Paul Chryst. He'd bring Nebraska it's identity back of tough guy running and defense. The guy has a good record in the BIG and is a two time coach of the year in that conference. Wisconsin screwed up letting him go so take advantage of their mistake, solid/safe choice in this situation to get NU back to at least some respectability.

3. Matt Campbell, He should have left Ames already, he has taken them about as far as he can and has done a great job building their program, IMHO he'd be a terror at Nebraska.

4. Dan Mullen, Urban Meyer coaching tree, Florida was a mess but it has been for a few different coaches. He did a solid job at MSU which aint the easiest place to have success. Nebraska needs to run the ball, Mullen can make that happen.

Past that, total crapshoot so take my advice, get one of these guys.

1) Dave Aranda - dudes a great defensive mind and now has connections to Texas recruiting. He’d be my first call if I was NU.

2) Matt Campbell - good coach that gets a ton out of his players. Sure his stock is down but it can pick up pretty easily.

3) Tom Herman - dude is a decent coach that got imo a raw deal because of where he was. Still has connections in Texas and he would run a fun offense while still having a good defense.

The thing people have to realize is NU is in a safe conference. When it boils down to the nitty gritty the two conferences to be in are the SEC and the B1G. Coaches recognize that, that’s why I think NU has a ton of options at coach.

The one problem is no big name coaches are available. Stoops gone, Meyer is with FOX show, etc. Just curious, would there be an NFL coordinator that would fit in at Nebraska? Or would no NFL coordinator take that job? If that's a dumb question, I am just wondering because I don't keep up with NFL.

Thinking outside the box might be what’s needed for the Cornbros.

Not sure an average HC is gonna be able to fix that mess in Lincoln.

Doesn't seem like a long term solution. If Dion has any success in Lincoln and FSU still isn't heading in the right direction, he'll be in Tallahassee the second the phone rings. Especially after a couple of our winters.

"Nebraska. It's not for everyone"

I agree. Why not go unconventional?

Sometimes you just gotta bet the hard eight.
