Jeff Brohm To Louisville

That's some extreme hometown loyalty bc Purdue was paying him really well. Can't imagine Louisville could beat it by much

Better than backwards moves like Oregon's coaches like to make.
Definitely true. Going for Oregon to Florida State and Oregon to Miami are backward moves and so far have proven to be harder jobs than Oregon because both those coaches have failed.

Going home for a HC is a bit of a gamble for the school. Sometimes it works out great like Kirby at UGA, but sometimes it works out like Scott Frost at Nebraska and the school hangs on to em for a year or two too long because they’re an alum

RIP Purdue

Good. Now we can sleep on Purdue again.

Though I'm not sure he's capable of really being better than a perpetual 7/8 win coach who randomly has a QB/WR go off on a random night and take out a team they shouldn't.

While I agree that B1G is > ACC, but Louisville is a good draw at least

Louisville upgraded from Satterfield to Brohm.. must be great knowing thanks to cincy they didn't have to pay Satterfield to go away too

Massive upgrade for Louisville.

This is our first voluntary move from a P2 program to a downgraded old P5 program.

Brohm was making 5 million at Purdue is going to make about 5.8 million per reports (35mm over 6 years). You have to think that Purdue would have at least matched so he wanted out.

Purdue is a hard place to recruit to, he will probably be able to do a bit more at Louisville than he was able to do there.

Probably easier to win in the ACC than it is at Purdue.

On top of that, currently for the 2023 class
Louisville: #19
Purdue: #37

Not going from the Big West to the ACC Atlantic

He could get Louisville to consistently being the 2nd or 3rd best team in the ACC tough. Clemson and FSU (I think Norvell has them on the right track) are the only real competition currently.

Purdue will never be that in the B1G.

I think it is a backwards move ... at Louisville he will have half the budget he has at Purdue once the B1G TV money kicks in. He may regret this one day.

This is exactly what I was thinking. While he is an alumnus, I’m still shocked he made this move. It seems backwards and maybe it’s a little early to start thinking but when that ACC GoR is up there is basically going to be 2 Power conferences. And that’s if the GoR lasts fully. As time passes coaches will be thinking long and hard about leaving that P2 conference for basically a G5 conference no matter where they went to school.
