Pretty sure it’s the same in most states. Probably yours too.
 
I thinking the logic is that the guy going straight needs a much smaller window to get through the intersection than the guy needing to turn left. The guy needing to turn left has to make sure the traffic coming from his right isn’t gonna crash into him from behind while he gets up to speed in the lane.
 
if it’s a tie, I always go first because i got the juice. There’s only been a few times where I was followed to JDPL for a proper beatdown.
