EPL 2022/2023

Man U lol. Penalty at 90+7 in a 0-0 tie. Luke Shaw handball lol.

Liverpool putting pressure on Newcastle and United. Newcastle vs Arsenal tomorrow. West Ham needs to come up big against Man U.

Man, prophetic.

I left and turned it off at half time to go play a terrible round of golf. I was pretty convinced Spurs would lay down like they did vs Newcastle. I had to watch the replay afterwards to see how in the world they managed to tie things up only to give the lead right back 90 seconds later. Really impressive stuff to snatch a loss at the death like that.
Dude, you guys should have won that by 2 goals. You hit the post countless times and Jota should have seen red. I’ll take the 3 but LFC should of at best got 1.

LFC already made their bed. Top 4 isn’t happening. They did play Gakpo in midfield today. I was excited about that.

Well Newcastle lost today. That is one game in hand done. They need 2 of 4 losses there. Newcastle still has Brighton and Chelsea. If Man U loses today then things could get interesting. I believe Liverpool will win out. 71 point for them. Have to have them all. We'll see. 71 points for Newcastle and 72 for Man U will seal Liverpool fate though.

Halftime: So far West Ham doing their job. Lead 1-0. Win they are safe, and Man U feet on the fire.

And there it is: Big win for West Ham. Should be safe now and Man U yikes. Back to back shutouts.

Yeah this one shocked me a bit. But 3 of United’s last 4 are at Old Trafford and they’ve only lost once there in league play this year so I’m not getting my hopes up. However they do have a few draws that surprised me there.

Excellent weekend for LFC though. The cherry on the top would be Everton drawing at BHA. Unfortunately need BHA to start dropping some points but I don’t want the toffees getting all 3 lol

Declan Rice was superb today. I watched the second half. Someone is going to pay a pretty penny for him. He is on Bayern radar but I see no chance him leaving England.

Didn’t get a chance to watch it sadly. Red Sox were on and I don’t get to watch them that often. (I get Phillies games) Also they hid the damn game on Peacock which is stupid. Glad WH won. Was United bad?

The lone goal was a De Gea howler lol. Find the video. He does that too much. There was a handball on United that should have been called also. But it is EPL with those. West Ham scored a second goal but it was barely offsides. United showed no energy mostly, nothing clinical in and around the box. Had lots of possession but did nothing with it. West Ham was pretty dangerous but went into a shell at the end. United never really picked up the energy until injury time. Way too late.

Speaking of Peacock, when I signed on via Comcast app a message popped up saying I have to fork over $2.99 now to keep it after 6/26.

Wild how hard Man U is collapsing at the finish line. Good news for them is the only away match they have left is Bournemouth. Toughest remaining games on paper are vs Chelsea and Fulham. They SHOULD be able to see this thing out and remain in 4th, but they also should have beaten a bad West Ham team.

Brighton have Arsenal away, Newcastle away, and Citeh at home before finishing with Villa away. That final match could be the difference between Europa League or possibly no european competition at all for Brighton. I'm still a huge De Zerbi fan and would love for him to come to Spurs.

WTF, just checked the score and its 5-1 Fulham over Leicester??? Talk about a club that has totally collapsed.

Bad day for Leicester, and good day for Liverpool and Spurs to stay in Europe with the Brighton hammering. Where did Everton find 5 goals too?

I think Brighton blew their Europe chance today probably.

What a wild day the league saw.
Even with big Sam I think Leeds done. The Americans there pretty useless as been the case with most American footballers overseas. It is down to the last spot between Forest, Leicester, and Everton.

Leeds are shit terrible.
Hard to choose between the other 3 because they all deserve to go down too haha.

Kind of depends. Some have done well. It seems to break down 3 ways.
1) They have the skill and mental ability to play in Europe (Dempsey, McBride, Howard, Keller, Friedel, Claudio Reyna etc)
2) They have the skill enough but lack the mental ability or toughness (Donovan comes to mind)
3) Those that just lack the skill to play there.

Pulisic did well at Dortmund, but going to Chelsea was a mistake (but Havertz and others have made the same mistake) but yeah the ones at Leeds are lacking.

I'm guessing Leeds are thinking Bielsa wasn't so bad after all.

I agree with most of your assessment. Pulisic to Chelsea was definitely a mistake, but everyone to Chelsea lately was a mistake.

Concerning USA players currently, there are a lot having bad seasons and there will be tons of movement. The older players you mentioned I dont see much of that in the current cast. I will a list of a few of the top ones but who is really breakout. Some should be getting into their prime soon, but where is it:

Dest: complete bust. So bad he was released to play at the USA vs Mexico friendly recently.
Gio Reyna: down on the pecking list at Dortmund. Has had a few super sub performances. But needs to start to progress beyond that.
Pulisic: Not sure why he does not get more time. Wrong coach, wrong team, big mistake.
McKenney: turning into a bust. He is the wrath of the Leeds fans. Juventus doesn't want him either.
Aaronson: not a Premier League player. Maybe Bundesliga or France or something. Disappointing year.
Adams: A good defensive midfielder but fell out of favor at Leipzig and may again at Leeds. His game is somewhat sideways.
Rheem: superb season.
Robinson: see Rheem but not quite as good but Man City looking.
Musah: Liverpool are interested. But on another team fighting relegaton. I still like him.
Weah: Are they trying to convert him to a right back at Lille? French League is probably his level at best. Not that impressed.
Sally: Had a good season and started many games at Gladbach.
Dike: Was doing well at Bromwich until the devastating Achilles. Still an up and down player.
Pepe: Had a really good season on a bad relegated Dutch team. Might have turned the corner.
Sargent: Please no!!!
Prefok: Still worth a look but won't get it.
