Conference teams that played 10 P5 opponents in 2022...

That was more of a knock on the Falcons draft than praise for Harrison
I spent way too much time watching Harrison, as he was ready to commit to Michigan and then we got smoked by Ohio State and he flipped his commitment to OSU. So I have watched him for 4 years. I thought he was going to be an absolute monster and after watching him -- he was solid, but nothing special at all. Athletic Tackles in the NFL will completely eat him up, IMO.

The games were nothing alike because of Ohio State's defensive strategy -- do you not get that?. You stacked the box, had your linebackers fill the gaps, which leaves your secondary all on an island. That is why you saw all the big plays passing. That is why you saw WR's running by themselves.

You know those big runs -- why do you think once Edwards broke thru the line THERE WAS NO ONE THERE. Not once, but twice. Because OSU sold out to try and stop the run and guess what happens when they don't stop it? Those guys in man coverage are now having to peel off and try to make the tackle and Edwards was too fast.

And your DB's were awful because you sold out to stop the run and left them all alone across the board. It isn't too difficult to grasp. It wasn't like OSU was just leaving one man in single coverage. They were in single coverage almost across the board much of the game. When a team does that -- you take shots downfield, which Michigan did often.
"Big plays" would describe 3 out of JJ's 22 attempts. Not sure what game you were watching but you can't act like he was picking us apart when we were focused on the run. Those big runs happened after 3.5 quarter of OSU keeping him in check.

Our DBs were awful because they were awful. Stop acting like you're the only team that had success on big plays through the air. It happened several times against Maryland, PSU, Georgia, hell Arkansas St. and Toledo each broke off several big pass plays against us. In fact, I'd argue if JJ was any kind of good, he would've finished with a significantly better day against us but he only had the 2 long passes and then the short one that was all YAC.

The OSU-michigan game hinges on one thing and one thing only - have our players fully acclimated to Knowles' scheme. If they have, we're likely winning. If not, it could be like last year.

Still better than drafting a RB at 8

PFF rated Harrison at 86 last year. You're looking only at sack totals and not his overall game.

Your excuse is -- your defense wasn't acclimated after a full year playing the defense? :pound: Newsflash -- you play Michigan the last game of the regular season, if your team is acclimated by the last game -- they never will be.

I guess if we get to use excuses -- can Michigan use the excuse the only reason OSU dominated us for a decade is, we kept changing coaches and coordinators. If we could have become acclimated to those staffs, we would have likely beat OSU.:wtf:

You are approaching MnB levels of homerism.

We drafted a RB at 12 AFTER spending 18 million to sign David Montgomery in the offseason. Top that. :hammer:
We had a rookie RB last year rush for over 1000 yards and over 5 ypc and Cordarelle Patterson on roster.

Finished near the bottom on the league in sacks and had a terrible run defense, and Jalen Carter went 9th

Our DBs weren't, no. Like I said, they were really, really bad. It's the least talented defensive backfield we've had in god knows how long. There's a reason we brought in two DBs in the portal, and it's not so they can be backups. You guys won because of big plays, something we knew was going to be a problem going into the season given the nature of the defense and the crap we had at DB. I'm honestly not sure what your point is even.

I thought they weren't acclimated to the defense? Is that going to be the excuse this year if you have new CB's? They weren't acclimated to the defense, as Michigan returns essentially our entire offense.

I just want to make sure we have the excuses straight for this year's game.

Jalen Carter dropped because not even his own coaches would give him the vote of approval. If he was a clean prospect with no red flags -- he would have been long gone before pick 8 or 9. Detroit has a MONSTER need for a play making DT and we passed on him too. So the red flags were many for Carter.

At least Atlanta took the guy considered a generational type RB who is a true 3 down bell cow RB. Detroit took a change of pace RB, who they may or may not split out wide at WR.

None of our DBs could stay healthy last year, that was part of the issue. There was zero consistency or familiarity with the groups on the field. A completely new scheme once again definitely didn't help matters. Of course guys were going to be lost and clueless when they were just getting thrown into spots they weren't expected to be.

The DL last year was OK just ok. It was bad in 2021, Just ok in 2022. Problem is they took at step back in the 2 biggest games, Michigan & UGA.

The DBs weren't. I've said that already. If they were actually good they would have acclimated, but they weren't. Christ it's like talking to a child.

I was personally happy with the way the front 7 played last year in terms of improvement over 2021, and I see no reason they can't continue to do so this year. Hopefully the DBs can stay healthy so we don't wind up having to give bums like Cam Martinez playing time.

Red flags or not, UGA fans are pretty pissed at the Falcons and have been since last year’s draft. If Robinson isn’t Adrian Peterson, it was a terrible pick

The LBs im actually confident in. They were so much better in 2022, they were god awul in 2021.

Like I said above the DL was better in 22 than 21, but it was just ok instead of bad. Maybe they'll progress from ok to good this year. I hope

Health is the big key for the DBs, it was a MASH unit most of the year last year since guys kept dropping like flys.

The 2 transfers we brought in should be a big help, hopefully they stay healthy all year.

The front 7 had five TFL and four pass deflections against michigan, and were a big part of why JJ could only complete 50% of his passes.

Not a good 2nd half for them though.

The 2nd half the last 2 years against Michigan have been brutal. For the offense as well fucking 17 points TOTAL in the 2nd half against Michigan in 2021 and 2022 combined. The play calling last year was criminal.

Like I said, guys like Cam Martinez shouldn't see significant time like he had to last year. Honestly I don't know why he's still on the team. He was the dope responsible for michigan's first two TDs and should've never been out there. Health will definitely be a big thing on both sides of the ball. With the three transfers, a healthy Jordan Hancock (and Ransom not playing with a cast on his hand), and some more playing time for Sonny Styles, hopefully they take a big step.

Still think they shoulda kept Martinez on offense instead of making him a DB. He's really fast but has zero instincts when it comes to coverage or tackling angles.

And only gave up 280 yards passing and 250 yards rushing. They were stellar. Hopefully they are stellar this year too. :)

Penalties also killed us in the 2nd half last year. We had 6 compared to michigan's 0, several of which killed OSU drives/extended michigan drives. Those have to be cleaned up.
