OREGON to the B1G

Laughing my ASS OFF that USC is crying and begging for their new conference to not add Oregon.

HEY USC! CHECK UNDER YOUR BED!!! ITS A G-DAMN DUCK!

lol @Oregon begging to get in and taking Rutgers level money to do it.

That's all you need to know about how badly the B1G wanted you.

Oregon and Washington never wanted anything to do with the ACC GOR mess. That move was never in play.
Never said it was. Numbers were run on our side with ESPN. We just decided “yeah, nevermind.”

"the moves don’t offer the current Big Ten schools any additional money."

Is it an egregious loss though?

The Big 10 needs to be just as forward looking as Oregon/Washington for the next media rights cycle in 2029/2030.

I'm so tired for following twitter way too much last night. I got up to pee at like 2am, checked twitter and got sucked in until like 3am following the regents meeting information coming out.

Let me save you the time.

Arizona, ASU and Utah to the Big 12.

Oregon and Washington to the B1G.

Oregon State and Wazzu to the MWC.

Stanford goes independent. Cal probably drops sports, idk

Am I correct in thinking the B1G is saying to Oregon and Washington ... "We'll take you on, but we're going to pay you half of what we're paying Rutgers"?

Lol. What a slap in the face.

Rutgers, Maryland and Nebraska all had the same kind of entry deal. It's pretty standard for the Big Ten. The exceptions were made for the LA market.

Didnt rutgers have to take diminished shares too when they first joined....its how the game works

IIRC Rutgers took even a smaller share than MD/Nebraska because the Big Ten also gave them a loan to pay off debts.

That's pretty much how all of the teams except USC/UCLA have entered. Nebraska only got like 1/2 revenue until like 2016/2017 something like that. USC and UCLA got fairly lucky in that they were used (I suspect) during TV contract negotiations.

This appears to be all but done. Here's my question, where is the money coming from? Did the Big Ten get another media partner involved (ESPN or Amazon) or did they just get their current media partners (FOX/CBS/NBC) to pay more money?

If they didn't bring in another media partner, NBC likely had to help pay for expansion. I wonder how that impacts the ND negotiations...

Cal could go to the Big West. They'd be a good fit there.

Interest in sports there has been declining forever.

As for Stanford, I think they are a better overall sports program than Colorado, and Arizona. But there's other things at play there.

Most reasonable redistribution scenario yet... except mwc changes name to pac

They could do that, but it doesn't hold any weight unless they retain at least 'some' of the good members. Even a handful.

... like Big East.

The money is coming from the networks or the B1G members wouldn't agree to it. The B1G members aren't going to take less money to add more teams and the conference isn't going to go into debt to add teams either that would be stupid. Everyone learned from what happened to the SEC when they added aTm & SC.

It has no impact on ND as they aren't involved and they are NBC's priority so it would be incredibly stupid to rock that boat.

Now quit asking stupid questions.
