Pray for Maine - 17 dead dozens injured mass shooter at large

Reeducation training. If we were all in a giant padded prison playpen, then we couldn't ourselves or others. And we should trust the government to be the authority to plan, implement, control and oversee such a process, because it has a tremendous track record.

Let me ask: were the bodies at least cold before this became a political poop-flinging affair this time?
Shirley, you jest.

The problem as I see it, and I was training to be an engineer with a strong backround in math theory, was a mind set that says for every problem, there is a solution. Now, maybe some of your ideas may decrease the number of incidences, but never eliminate them completely. But what makes your solutions non-viable is the legal ramifications. Without a complete cultural change and rewriting of the Constitution, most are a no-go.

Yeah, that's why I'm resigned.

Nothing is going to change. As I said before, when nothing changed after Sandy Hook, the writing was on the wall.

I don't see what law could be made that takes guns away from a 40 year old who has no violent history.

I think it's pretty easy to be pro 2nd Amendment and at the same time be pro "lets try to not let murderous crazies be able to get guns."

But any step in that direction, and you're labeled a "gun grabber" by people who are unable to think.
it's a slippery slope. if we take away guns from people that say they want to commit a mass shooting, where does it stop?

Y’all are missing the bigger part of this story. Sure, he killed a bunch of people and that was bad and all, but did you know he once liked some anti-trans Tweets?

Did he shoot up a trans bowling alley?

what guy are you talking about? certainly not the maine shooter with a history of domestic violence.

Sure ya do. The extremists on the gun control side have no illusions to their goal, which is a 100% removal of guns from civilian hands. Undeniably, it would cut down on gun-related crime and gun-related violence, including deaths. The problems are quickly and easily identified as (1) some huge amount of guns would not be voluntarily surrendered and going after holdouts, lost guns and the attendant investigations are logistical and constitutional nightmares, and (2) criminals, by their very nature, have disdain for the law, and would likely not comply, meaning policing would need to be massively increased, and/or criminals much more harshly punished -- at least in the short term.

These extremists are as unhelpful to the problem as the gun rights extremists, as all it does is stifle dialogue and create more inaction. I'm not even sure they care, as there's substantial evidence that political fundraising is a frequent component, and there's no desire to get rid of that. We're literally trading human lives so that Congressman Choad and Senator Shmuck can be (re)elected. As @PackJason correctly points out, nothing more will be done, if after Sandy Hook, nothing was done.

By the by, would a trans bowling alley have a more expansive selection of balls?
Yes, but careful putting your fingers into the balls, as the holes might be unclean.

what guy are you talking about? certainly not the maine shooter with a history of domestic violence.

I haven't read anything about domestic violence. So what do you have?

That's one thing: If a guy is a big enough piece of shit to beat women, then maybe he should lose his right to own guns.

How many T's and P's are we up to?
