2024 Recruiting Thread

I know this isn't class of 2024. This probably isn't a surprise to you "recruitniks", but for this old man it is nuts. Freshman!!!!

Texas Top 50 Class of 2027

The DFW Metroplex has a disproportionate number of them. Insane.
dctf is great for covering football.. not evaluating

So word is going around that Elko is wanting the aggy job.. he knows everyone on the current staff. He also can take his coaches at Duke without aggy paying a penalty for them after the season. He thinks he can convince the current def players to stay since they know him.. ready to hit the trail and portal as soon as he is hired..

Why even try evaluating freshman?
they have always done this every so often.. but they are just looking at numbers on how they performed as freshman in the regular season

Like I said, they are terrific covering TXHSFB, but when it comes to evaluating players as CFB prospects..it's very very hit and miss

:pound:Recruits appear to still be BUZZING about Michigan

That isn't a surprise. Belleville is like 10 minutes from Ann Arbor and it is considered a MSU school.
Underwood and his parents did not like Matt Weiss, who was our QB coach (so his parents are a good judge of people -- as Weiss is the one fired for going into co-workers e-mail's). Before Kirk Campbell was promoted to QB coach -- it was all but assured Underwood would be going to one of the SEC schools, LSU was at the top. Campbell put a full court press on Underwood and has gotten Underwood to visit UM a ton and he has built a relationship with his parents. But it is likely too little, too late. They really like Campbell though.
To put how much they disliked Weiss -- he wouldn't visit UM. Campbell has at least given UM a shot. Wish Weiss was fired sooner, as Underwood is very good. He'd be the PERFECT QB for OSU's offense. He runs that exact offense in HS. It is so hard to tell how good he really is, as his team is SO MUCH BETTER than everyone in our state. His team beat CJ Carr's #4 ranked team by 50. They beat the #2 team in the state in the semi-finals by 50.
The coach of his team was banned from coaching for 3 years in the playoffs last year after they found all the recruiting he had done to put the team together.

I am very critical of Deon. This is a big win for him. UGA wanted this guy. He is a two-way player and has been told he will play both ways. Hard to beat that when he has done that with Hunter. But, we will see how that works out.

I take all the Colorado commits with a huge grain of salt. Likely he'll be in the portal after 2024, even with the move to the Big 12. Deion will go to the pros when his sons leave and it will be a mass exodus.

I agree.

On this one, UGA wanted him as a DB. UTjr and others wanted him as a WR. Our WR recruiting in this class is really good on quality, but we needed quantity so they said he could come in as a WR.

Deon said I'll let you play both. With Hunter doing that, he was conned into thinking he could do that. Hunter was the no. 1 recruit in his class and even though he is doing it, he's not doing it well and it is going to cost him in the end. The NFL doesn't want two-way players.

So, off to Colorado he goes.

They've lost two of their top recruits for 2025 this month out of the blue. I'm thinking they know 2024 is his last in Boulder. He has no reason to be there once his sons and Travis are gone.

Yeah, they just lost their 2025 QB who was a top 5 QB. This schtick is rubbing off already.

Not sure if the B12 is friendlier or not. He won't play the Oregon/UW level teams, but he lost to the low end PAC teams so I don't see him suddenly getting better.

Next year's Big 12 has the makeup of a high end G5 conference, but that's assuming Leopold and Kleiman don't get poached from the Kansas schools. Otherwise, there's not much there in terms of depth. If Shadeur is a true NFL prospect, he should have little trouble carving up that conference next year.

Will all come down to OL ... can they improve it?

To those tracking Bryce Underwood -- His team played for thue state title on Sunday night. Underwood was grossly outplayed by Isaiah Marshall (QB committed to Kansas). Underwood struggled much of the game, while Marshall threw for 300+ yards and ran for over 100 and his Southfield team beat Belleville 36-32.

Yeah, just like you've been saying about Raiola all season.
