I knew that game was going to be an offensive back and forth. Texas had one of the worst passing defenses in the country this year (granted it's a pass happy conference, but they were by no means a stout defense).

Michigan's defense is a different story. Penix is great and im super happy for him that he left Indiana and is able to show off his skillset with a better supporting cast. He is going to have to have a really great game for Washington to win IMO. I don't expect Michigan to turn it over much and I don't expect their defense to give up many homeruns.
This year the Big 12 may have been the worst passing conference. QB play wasn’t very good at all IMO. And Texas still struggled in pass defense.

This one looks pretty simple to me, Michigan is not going to be able to score with Washington.
No consideration of Michigans defense stopping their attack?

UW has played many teams this year that were too strong, too tough, too fast. We heard for a month how Texas was gonna control the LOS and push us around.

Loved how Penix and Trice answered their postgame questions while accepting their Sugar Bowl awards.

Best thing for Michigan would have been for UW to open as the favorites......they fucked now. Dawgs are dogs
Are your injured RB and DB from last game going to play?

I think their health is a big factor

I heard an interesting comparison yesterday. Someone compared this 2023 Washington team to the 2021 Ohio State team, that Michigan ended up beating. They were saying that they were constructed and built in a way to beat that team with Stroud, Olave, Wilson and JSN. I honestly thought it was pretty spot on. This Michigan team is better than that Michigan team IMO. And this UW team is probably slightly worse than that OSU team, overall, despite being undefeated. My guess is Michigan wins by about 10-14 or so.

Only thing that this team "lacks" versus the 2021 team is the lack of elite EDGE rushers like Ojabo and Hutchinson, and the two of them terrorized OSU. Especially Hutchinson. I do think there is something to be said for having a superstar on defense like that, look at Suh or OSU with the Bosas/Chase Young. However, this DL is noticeably better on the interior than the 2021 squad and they have a lot more rotational depth. It's not like you can just make 4 of them stay on the field and exhaust them.

But yeah, looking at Washington's offense reminds me very much of the 2021-22 OSU squads. It's not going to be easy, but it's not like Michigan hasn't had to prepare for it before. They were able to limit Harrison this year.

I'll say Michigan 32-27

RB is a go, not gonna be 100%. Jabarr will be fine. He came back in at the end of the last game.

Breaking this stuff down on paper is typically a recipe for disaster.

On paper Michigan has been stellar in literally every pass defense statistic. However, they've not faced a passing offense like Washington's.

Passing Offenses

East Carolina (120th)
UNLV (55th)
Bowling Green (104th)
Rutgers (124th)
Nebraska (126th)
Minnesota (123rd)
Indiana (82nd)
Michigan St (96th)
Purdue (84th)
Penn St (78th)
Maryland (21st)
Ohio St (30th)
Iowa (127th)
Alabama (68th)

Washington (1st)

Only two Top 30 passing offenses on the entire schedule in Maryland (21st) and Ohio St (30th). Both were close games at 31-24 and 30-24 respectively.

I like the OSU fan vibe coming in here. “Ugh… it just pains me so much guys, Michigan got this.”

It’s this weird “they beat us and it’s just not possible UW is better than us” energy.

It’d be hard to find competent people saying tOSU was better than UW.

Huskies have a chip on their should because they’ve been doubted 3-4 times this season now, I get it.

That is the only way Michigan can win
I don't think people have really followed this Michigan team when you say that.

Michigan is so good because they dictate how the game will be played. They aren't going to move away from their style, no matter what. They are going to run the ball on offense, they are going to work the clock and they aren't going to beat themselves. Defensively, they will alternate guys all game long so our defensive front will be fresh the entire game. We had 7 or 8 sacks against Bama, by 6 different players.

And they won't beat themselves. The Bama game was an anomaly. Our FG kicker had missed 2 FG's all year. We had missed zero extra points. And we had the 2nd fewest turnovers in all of CFB. On the flip side -- we are the least penalitzed team in CFB as well, while having the #2 defense.

I laugh when people say Michigan can't play a high scoring game with Washington. Total touchdowns scored on the year for the teams.

Washington scored 63 touchdowns. Michigan scored 62 touchdowns. Yet one team is a high flying offense, the other isn't???

These great offenses just aren’t getting stopped. Hopefully everyone agrees that Washington’s offense is considerably better than Alabamas.

I think both teams have a chip on their shoulder. Michigan is the team everyone was saying they only won because they cheated. They've had to play without their HC 6 games this year.

This is the gayest shit I’ve seen all day

Is that why Oregon State held them to 22? Arizona State held them to 15? Washington State held them to 24?

And again -- Washington scored ONE more TD on the season than Michigan and averaged ONE point more, while Michigan played 6 defenses in the top 25 and Washington played 1 top 25 defense.

Sounds like you should just go bet it all. I have no horse in this race, just not impressed with Michigan.

Yeah -- I wish we had a Hutchinson on the DL, but being able to rotate 8-10 guys on the DL is a HUGE advantage as the game goes on. Being able to rotate in fresh bodies and have no drop off at all.
