UCONN/St John’s game looks like a street fight.

Creighton really needs a PG and unfortunately it does not appear it will correct itself this year

We will see, not all injuries end up as bad as the player initially reacts

But Hopkins was yelling/sobbing holding his knee so loud you could here perfectly through the TV That would be brutal for Prov

This league is gonna be a grind this year. I dont think 17-3 will be the winning record this go around.

Nova holding off X to be 3-0 was still the preferred route I think. Because even with their goofy ass losses they are currently a Q1 game for anyone who plays them at home much less on the road.

If SHU can keep a bump there is a solid chance that 9/11 teams end up being Q1 road games. Then theres the two adominations.

Going to be really tough night in and night out knowing which teams to root for as the conference season really gets going.

Time will tell, but other than Seton Hall showing flashes, I don't see that much substance from other teams. I expected Providence to be good.

I guarantee this Nova team drops a game to like Butler at home, or G'town on the road, etc. Too little chemistry.

Hopefully they can pull it together in February and make a run at a top 5 seed.

Substance? Probably not. Even SHU is pretty bad when you look at them on the surface. Really no shooters/scorers, ok rebounding and basically dont run a offense. They muck it up and play hard tho so they can win some games.

Big thing tho is that all these teams randomly have enough substance to their metrics to make for so many Q1 games and I think its because many of them really turn the games into rock fights which is what will make road games so tough

Pure talent wise, sure a team like MU or Uconn especially should really only be "ok with" road losses at each other, Prov and probably Creighton/Nova. I just think a lot more slip ups will come tho because the middle of the BE at home with a crowd in rock fights will be tough.

I have less expectations on the road vs these BE teams then last year when most legit sucked. At home? Should still run the table barrring slip up especially if Moore and Hopkins are not available.

Hopkins gone for the year and so is Providence.

Yeah not sure how they can replace him.

Will have to try a 4 out offense but not enough of their guys can shoot it.

Oduru has been way better than expected but not very versatile. Carter has to be the alpha but that might make him do even more dumb shit than he already does(shots and TOs) even for how good he is.

Butler did what you cant do against Uconn, failed to step on their throat.

With 8ish minutes left in first half Butler was up 8 and the place was rocking. Johnson got his second foul to join Karaban with 2. Butler was in the bonus.

Uconn playing all guys 6'7 or smaller. Butler started settling for long jumpers. At half it was Butler up 7. Uconn held serve with the back ups in and no bigs.

The second half has been an offensive onslaught. Butler gets a stop like 1 every 4 or 5 possessions I think.

Shaka has committed coaching malpractice

Marquette was up 23-13 and SHU couldnt stop anything against our starters with the ball movement and pressure. Halloway couldnt even afford to use another TO. Shaka subbed for no reason.

25-7 run for SHU since. Unbelieveable. We break quickly on the road.

Seton Hall may have something tho their OOC was putrid. Hate it when teams do that.

Horrendous effort by Nova today. Teams just pick this team apart from behind the arc

We are legit bad right now. There is something internally off.

Team cant shoot for shit, been a problem all year and its even worse right now. But the effort is gone. We were cooking Butler in the paint and the whole team checked out. Kolek the last 2 games looks like he would rather be anywhere else.

There is something going on, not sure what. At this point might be best to just get a 10 seed and try to be the 10 seed with most potential.

Cause we are broken right now.

Nothing like a home game against the most inconsistent team in the country to turn your season around

It feels like a different team from last year, but you can't put a finger on it

Looked a lot better today. Nova shot out their ass most notably Armstrong but we stuck with it.

Biggest issue with this team is that we simply put cannot shoot. Its not unlucky when its a 17 game trend. Butler we scored at will in the paint the first 12 minutes of the game. And started jacking up 3s. Today vs Nova we stuck with the paint. Nova had absolutely no chance to stop us in the paint, zero. And we stuck with it unlike the Butler game.

I did see a analytic that said we win that butler game 99 times out of 100 because we missed 18 uncontested 3s(13 by TK and Kam) but like I said, hard to call it unlucky when its been a year long trend.

On the other end we have been unlucky tho. Our D is objectively great this year but seemingly every game we play the opposing team has guys going for the best games of their lives. Klesmit, Dawes(seton hall fans literally hate this guy), Armstrong, Purdues entire roster, etc..

Another thing that will be interesting to monitor going forward is the impact of the Sean Jones injury.

It sucks for him, it sucks for us development wise. It hurts our depth and defense a bit.

But having said that, it also means Kolek has to have the ball in his hands almost entirely which is objectively when hes at his best. Kolek playing off the ball when Jones is in never has felt right.

Honestly, it's hard to look at the Butler 2nd half as anything but a really bad loss, because so many of the plays they were able to run against Nova today, they either didn't run or it didn't work. It was really ugly.

That said, this Nova team is easy to gameplan for. Pressure the guards and force them into ungodly turnovers, and make Brendan Hausen win the game for Nova, which will never happen.

Nova is also a really ideal match up for us.

They are talented but dont have a true big man. Without a rim protector its almost impossible to stop our big 3 from getting to the rim whenever they want. Which in turn makes it so the lack of shooting doesnt hurt.

Dixon has been killing people, he's been our best player. Everybody else has been a mixed bag at best.

Funny thing about Kolek is his shooting numbers on the season are respectable. When I've seen him play, it's been brick city.

They need him to shoot better, and Ighodaro to be more consistent, but It's just too early to say right now. I wouldn;t be suprised if we beat UConn next week, and everybody else is losing.
