EA Sports College Football 25

I have faith it won't be a reskin and this is coming from a guy that usually buys all the maddens bc I play online franchise with friends. Same shit, every year. From people who have played this game already the feel is different. Gameplay faster. They spent 10 years on this game to specifically make it different than the shit Madden series

Might be giving EA a little too much benefit of the doubt there. They've probably spent all that time thinking up all the ways they can micro transaction people to death with this game.

If you read the deep dive link I posted, it goes into detail all the things you do in Dynasty to grow a program. Now it says you can set goals and if you meet those goals, you get XP. You get XP for winning games, hitting certain stats, etc and you can use that upgrade your coach/program.

All that did was SCREAM microtransactions to me. It didn't mention them, but you can bet your ass they're gonna be selling XP for all those modes and if you don't pay for it, you're gonna have to spend a shit ton of time grinding.

Faith in EA? You really think they spent 10 years developing this?

and why preorder?

I hope you’re right but I can’t think of the last time EA delivered something good. They are a slave to stock price and earnings, not making games for the players

Gameplay looks awful, player movements annoy the hell out of me, they look so arcade like, very jerky and unnatural

@19:04 Good ole predetermine animations are back
No need for a skill-gap, animations will take care of that for you

Yep, Looks buggy as shit, I foresee lots of madden style "ghost tacklers" where offensive players just run right through defenders like they weren't even actually there.

The players running like they are hockey players skating on ice just bugs the shit out of me, that alone will keep me from buying it.

I skipped around that gameplay video with the sound off to see clips of various things from my own perspective with no commentary. What I noticed first and foremost is that it was WAY too easy to move the ball. The defense AI looks like hot garbage.

Looks to me like the game handicaps the defense. Like you can be right there where the play should be made but the offense gets a last split second bullshit predetermined outcome animation that gives them the upper hand and lets them get away.

That's some frustrating shit if you are playing.

And yes I know it's a video game "not real life" but if I wanted a arcade style game i'd go buy a old copy of NFL Blitz.

I can tell most of the people commenting on this game probably haven't played Madden much recently. I haven't bought every Madden for the last 20 years but I have played my fair share of Madden. This is a totally different feel. I am not saying this will be anything close to perfect but a nice change of direction from the Madden series for sure.
This is a different style which is refreshing. It won't be perfect at the start or ever. Animations wise it isn't just Madden predetermined bullshit...I can see that just from watching 5 minutes of gameplay. It is going to be more difficult to play defense but welcome to college football, for the most part that's what we see. Lots of big plays

I watched a lot of gameplay. There are way less predetermined tackles for sure but there definitely will be times were it happens...bc it is a game. Overall there were a lot of new animations. Madden has like 4 or 5 and that has been going on for the past decade, they have added a couple the last year or two but not much overall.
Watching the first 10 minutes of gameplay, I saw about 5-10 different animations I never saw in the Madden series.

Like I said, I am not sure if you guys are expecting this to be world changing...sorry but it won't be. This is a good change of pace and style that will be more entertaining. Yes, it will be frustrating to play defense but we watch college football, most teams don't play a lick of defense especially with the rule changes.

Making it more difficult to play defense and making it straight up unfair to the defense are 2 different things. We must see different things here because from the footage i've watched it looks more on the lines of unfair for the defense.

1 more hour till its play time. My 15 year old just downloaded it, he is determined to make Navy a national powerhouse, starring himself at running back, of course. He took US Government and Economics over the summer and made a 97 so I am rewarding myself er, I mean, HIM with the pre-order.

I probably won't be able to get near it until he goes back to school.

Nice reward for an important achievement. Congrats to you both.

Any of you got it early? What's it like?

I have a 20 year old and 15 year old hogging the Xbox, so I can only give the below...

Difficult to play but tons of fun.

Control is wonky - for instance to switch defenders mid play, you have to push the stick to the left (if that's where yiur target is). But with the stick pointed left once the defender is changed, he runs left, which is no good if the guy with the ball is on the right.

Passing/Recieving is fair but a lot of drops (maybe they aren't doing it right or bad timing). There are three catch buttons. Catch, catch and run, aggressive catch. Often it seems like the defender jumps 6 ft in the air to swat the ball.

ROAD TO GLORY gameplay:

This is you coming out of HS and getting recruited to start your career....

Last night youngest was playing on Army (they showed interest out of HS). He was 3rd string and had to build himself up with practice and drills. Then after a few games he makes 2nd string and gets in on a few plays. He only played and controlled his character so the season zoomed by as there were only a handful of plays per game at first until he played more and more. He spent points each week and in the off-season doing various things like studying to keep academics up and working on strength or speed, etc. There were 6-7 options to spend points on. Lost the Military Bowl v Miami but had a good season with only 3 losses. Anyway at end of season Army recruited well and then he found himself down at 5th string. Ticked him off so he restarted and chose Navy. I think he had the option to transfer as well.

I noticed that being Army there were a lot of run plays, especially 3O. Him being pitch guy he VERY RARELY got pitched, it was 95% give to dive back. Might have had something to do with the "Coach Confidence" meter that began ticking up from the very beginning. Make a good play or block, get 5 points. TD was more. If you screw up, lose points. So mess up enough then you get relegated to less plays and then relegate back to benchwarmer. These points were what he was working on in practice in the beginning so that he could get coach confident enough in him to play.

Took him 3 hours to beat ND as Navy, but he finally got the handle of running, meshing handing off, pitching. He looked pretty good just now with it.
