2024 Season Thread

I'm genuinely surprised Logano didn't receive a stiffer penalty. $50k is really a joke to him.

If this doesn't make Nascar realize that "the win and in" is nonsense, then nothing ever will.

I'm going to laugh my ass off if Dillon wins one of the last 3 races to still get in.

Dillon can’t win unless it is rain shortened on he wrecked half the field.

1st time I think Nascar made a proper ruling.
All this win at all cost so you are in the playoffs.
Glad to see he got stripped of it.

He’s literally never won a rain shortened race.

Fuel mileage in the 600
Dumped Almirola to win the Daytona 500
Had em covered in Texas for an RCR 1-2
Everyone else wrecked in the rain except him(what was their excuse) in the 400 at Daytona
And had the field covered this weekend

Criticism only works when you’re honest and can back up your claims.

Just speaking as a guy that does not recognize the playoffs or validate Mickey Mouse titles, this seems like a non punishment to me

But, Logano should have gotten a much more severe penalty. He was mad over something he’s done countless times in his career and then tries to to run down a woman holding a baby with his car

they use all the team radios starting at about 15:10 seconds or so.

When Dillons spotter tells denny's spotter that he told him to right rear hookem. I was thinking holy fuck! Why would you ever admit that? I think that is where Nascar grew the balls to take away the playoff spot.

well I have never liked the Chase for the Chumpionship.
Also I have never liked Logano. Until Chastain got a good car, I had always said Logano is the most dangerous driver out there.

I knew Logano before Mark Martin ever called him sliced bread. He ran a handful of late model races for my grandpa’s friend(Chase Miller did as well, might remember him as a non factor in the truck and Busch series). He only ran a few races because he was rough on equipment and had major rich daddy vibes

To be fair to Chastain, he’s largely cleaned up his act. Logano was dirty as a teenager, and he’s still dirty now. And that’s not even taking into account the amount of big ones he’s caused at Daytona and Talladega and his 5 wide dive bombs at road courses

He earned it. People acting like he just wrecked someone to win like others have done. Not even close. It's one thing if on top of a guy and you bump them and they wreck for the win. It's completely different thing when you're multiple car lengths back, make no attempt at the corner whatsoever, bomb yourself into the leader, and then wreck another guy when your spotter tells you to. He broke the code and no one that's ever raced out there respects what he did

Had the field covered until he was beat fair and square by the 22 on the final restart. The 22 had him smoked heading into turn 3 on the final lap. Hence the problem...kamikazes with zero chance of success cannot be permitted, and NASCAR made the correct ruling here. Bump & run will always be, and SHOULD always be, a part of this sport. But DUMP & run, where the dumpee is obliterated by the dumper, that is bush league garbage and had to be penalized the way it was. Denny Hamlin was 100% correct in saying what stops guys in the Playoff from doing this to advance, or in Phoenix to just obliterate the other 3 drivers in contention to ensure the Championship? There has to be a line...somewhere. NASCAR just drew it, and they drew it correctly.

Tell me one time when Logano obliterated an opponent coming to the checkered flag to get a cheap win. One time.

Not a bump & run. Not "dooring" someone. Not hard-racing trading paint. Tell me a time when Logano was clearly beat fair and square, and he kamikaze obliterated a guy to get the win.

I'll wait.

I don’t give a shit about the playoffs. I’m just glad Wrecky Spinhouse didn’t cause the wrong car to win. Right car won, that’s all that matters

A dirty win is a dirty win, and Logano has his fair share. And that’s not even taking into account him and Keselowski vying for the top spot of causing the most torn up cars at Daytona and Talladega and his 5 wide dive bomb that had no chance of success in turn one of the Indy road course

I’m not capable of feeling any kind of sympathy for Logano or Hamlin. Had it been Buescher and Truex who would have raced Dillon clean, I’d have an issue, but it was two of the dirtiest drivers in the field and one of them attempted murder on a woman and a baby on pit road

LOL come on now, could you at least attempt to be less dramatic.

It seems they have the most issue with what happened to Hamlin, which to me the precedent was set when Carl Edwards blatantly right reared Brad Keselowski at Gateway and caused a very scary crash that might have been fatal if it happened 10 years prior and if Carl faced any punishment, it was a slap on the wrist

He pointed his broken car right at em. Logano should have faced the harshest punishment of anyone involved. I know I’m a good bit bigger and meaner than Dillon, but if that would have been my daughter that’s coming in a couple months and my GF, Logano would have had a very whipped ass, and possible career ending head injuries

Trophy and the check are where they belong. Only asterisked win in recent memory is that time Hamlin and Busch got BS DQ’s and handed the win to Chase Elliott, and making Chase to my knowledge the only driver to have won a race with zero laps lead

But at the end of the day, I do think NASCAR did get it right. Some peckerwood running 30th in points shouldn’t be eligible for a championship because he pulled a win out of his ass(still don’t see how that car was legal. Been like 25th on speed all season and then suddenly brings the fastest car to a track), but he still gets credited with the win.

But Logano’s punishment should have been way harsher.

But Dillon has a chance to make history. The lowest points finish for a driver to start every race and win at least one race was 30th for Joe Nemechek in 1999. Gonna be close, but I think Dillon can do it unless Richmond wasn’t a fluke and RCR somehow found some speed
