Detective and Private Eye shows seemed to be very popular on the 80's TV. What was your favorite?

simon and simon

moonlighting were tops for me.

still watch moonlighting on hulu at times

i also remember a show...where the 2 cops were partners and secretly married. they once banged each other in a car wash.... 8 year old me thought she was so hot

Miami Vice and Magnum.

Miami Vice and Moonlighting. Hill Street Blues but that more a police department show.

season 6 jasper beardly GIF

I was young when "Moonlighting" was on but I remember that if I brushed my teeth after "Who's the Boss" and "Growing Pains" I could stay up for half of "Holy Shit Who Is That Hot Blonde Detective Chick?":laugh:

I vote CHiPs then.
I watched a ton of CHIPS and Macgyver after school as a kid on reruns. Both in the realm of detective/cop show. Not even really sure what Macgyver's job was other than working for the secretive "phoenix foundation"

I remember an episode or two where they referred to him as a "troubleshooter".

Magnum by a long shot. I turned 11 in 1980. Hawaii and hot chicks all the way. Oh and ferrari, don't forget that.

Although I watched every episode of chips, most in real time, I never ever watched MacGyver. Not even a minute, ever.

It was so good, IMO it had the same feel as CHIPs did.

Magnum 1a, Spenser for Hire 1b.

I really loved moonlighting until the writers ruined the show. It got so bad that Barbara Walter’s did a special on how and why Moonlighting changed because the audience hated the writing in the later episodes.
